30 Bananas a Day!

One of the main reasons why I dislike the meat industry is because of the large quantities of types of meat that are just unnecessary in my eyes. I understand that some people truly believe that we as people need meat to live a healthy life. I don't think I go one week without having some sort of discussion about our need for certain food groups. But needing meat to live is one thing...and wanting meat is another thing. Both require murdering a living animal for our consumption. But if we NEEDED meat...wouldn't we settle for any cut of it? Just to feed that nutritional void?

Why must a baby cow be yanked away from its mother without even feeling her love or drinking much (if any) of her milk. Why must a mother cow go into extreme panic when she watches her newborn baby be pulled away from her by the same men who have treated her so harshly. For Veal. For something that just tastes good to some. It is not fulfilling any of life's necessities at all. It is just something that sells...and people will pay a pretty penny for it. I believe with my entire heart that a cow feels the same desire to care for her new born child as a human does. It is very clear if you talk to any farmer or watch any video about dairy farming that the mother shows a great amount of stress when her baby is being dragged away. It breaks my heart. These new born baby cows are put into tiny boxes with their heads chained in one place. During their short lives they can't even turn around or have any of their mother's milk because we steal it from that baby. Again...for veal. We kill babies for veal.
Something that we do not need in life...it is just a pleasure...but at what cost?

So why are these practices even allowed? If it is not benefiting our nutritional needs...then why even have it on the menu? I hope that one day we could lessen our production of meat and that less animals would be born into the factory farms. I personally do not think we need meat or dairy in our lives as long as you replace those two food groups with an alternative. Which has been much easier than I imagined.

You make the choice but please educate yourself where your food is coming from. This is entering your body and these companies are harming our environment. Raise you awareness and learn and then stand by your choice.

Good post Mary!

Even if meat is necessary it's certainly not necessary to have it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  (Bacon & Eggs for Breakfast, Ham & Cheese for Lunch, Meat and Potatoes for Dinner.)

I don't think that people realize just how selfish and cruel it is to eat meat so regularly and just how much suffering it will cause them in the future if they don't stop.

We have to be living examples of why to be vegan.
