I don't know where else to rant. I seriously just made a 20 minute video talking somewhat enraged to my camera about the ridiculousness we live in when it comes to even the 'alternative health' doctor being promoters of tons of supplements, high protein diets, antibiotics, etc... Infuriated, I realized "damn, can't use this".
So in effort to release some of the pent up frustration, I figured at least this community would understand.
I was in the grocery store (gettin some tomaters) and this guy was talking next to me to an attendant how there's "nothing I can do but take tons of pain killers". Doctors won't help him, he's living in pain with tons of illnesses, and he's next to me buying bread, packaged foods, and meat. WTF.
Seriously - we are a culture which has plenty of technology to not be so freaking dumb when it comes to taking care of ourselves. I understand the government has a lot in covering up the many alternative ways of healing and living (because dumb drones are easier to take care of)... but it's gotten to a point I think I've snapped!
This relates to my infuriating find earlier in a "wellness body" magazine. These types of magazines are the Go-to for people looking for alternative health - but what do they find? Supplements, 'natural weight loss products', advice to eat organic beef, and you can imagine everything else. It also had a special section all about how Carbohydrates make you fat. Heard of that before? Yeah - apparently any time you eat carbs, you produce insulin, thus you will store it as fat. Just like that.
It . Freaking. Pisses. Me. OFF.
Like many of you, I'm sure, the injustice one can we live in when it comes to overcoming ignorance in this country is sometimes more than I can comprehend. I drove by a McDonalds and was shocked people are still ordering Double Cheeseburgers! (I tend to stay outside of the mainstream - shocker).
Er. There's really no end to this rant. I'm just so upset and DONE with tip-toeing about my beliefs when it comes to optimal health and nutrition. Enough people have suffered, and I think it would help a lot of people if we were to own up not only to ourselves our beliefs, but share the truth (in a peaceful - non crazy person) way.
What would have happened if I talked to that gentlemen? Most likely disregarded me, but it was worth a shot. Anyone else really frustrated with this right now??

Comment by Amanda on September 28, 2012 at 12:58pm Thanks everyone for your responses. I feel much calmer and like Chloe suggested, peaceful. There's times it can get overwhelming, but thankfully we have a lot of like-minded individuals in the world that can understand. This site is proof.
Lisa Dee - I feel you. It's heartbreaking when you KNOW there's another way to heal. I read recently that an 8 year old girl just died from OVARIAN CANCER. It's getting pretty ridiculous, hopefully people ARE waking up.
Raw Rebellion - you're so right, maybe it's just time to forget about the ones who disregard or think you're crazy. It's like planting a seed, and hopefully he might think back to what you said and give it a try. You never know, sure couldn't hurt to offer hope to anyone I think.
Charlotte madadi-fiorini - ah, that's so sad. It really upsets me too seeing the younger generation affected so strongly as well because they've been raised with genetic weakness basically right out of the womb. I support you sharing your truth, though. Hopefully someday they'll be ready to listen, you'll never know how many you might help, even though in the moment it can seem like the world is against you. Blessings.
Chloe - thanks - there are definitely times that I tend to get fed up and rant like above, and you're so right, peace and understanding are seriously the two best ways to spread the message. Patience is something I've been working, I just have to remember we've all been in their shoes, only supporting their growth positively will make the biggest difference.

Comment by Chloe on September 28, 2012 at 10:20am I think we all(definitely myself included) go through a phase where we are completely frustrated about how no one understands what we understand. It is really infuriating to be the only one who sees the truth! The best thing we can do is to be patient and try to spread the vegan message as much as possible.
Verry frustrated. My mother´s doctor said my diet was unhealthy, yet she gives my mother "loosing weight pills", thoses with which you can eat fat, and it will run trough you and not beeing digested, with all risks it involves...My mother has really bad bones density yet she worries my daughter wont have strong bones as a vegan.A friend of a friend has a brain tumor, one that you can´t operate or cure with "western" medicine and has arround 2 years more to live (he is like 20). I suggested my friend she tells her friend about raw food diet and how it may cure him, she acted like she didn´t notice...A woman was talking to me about how painfull her arthritis was, when I talked about hcrv diet, and how she should ad least lay of meat fish and dairys for a while and see how she feels, she didn´t say nothing, but I saw she thought it was b-s...ok then keep your arthritis and stopp complaining. It really bugs me though when I see children diying of degenerativs diceases because their parents won´t trye anything else than "regular" medicin...People don´t want to realize their diets causes their diseases. They prefer to stay (sorry) stupid and believe diseases are just a fact of life so they can keep on eating their burgers .Just like smokers would say that they caugh because they have a cold, or any other excuse they would find..I would know, I´m an EX-smoker
Comment by Raw Rebellion on September 27, 2012 at 3:16pm Yeah totally frustrated here too. But, you bring up an interesting angle, even though we have changed maybe we need to go so far as to change into the kind of people who have a more active voice? I faced the exact same scenario in the supermarket when I was checking out with my thirty pound of bananas. The guy in front of me was buying crap and topped it off with three packs of cigs. I am usually just praying I get out of there without too many weird looks and comments.
Sure enough, "you must have a monkey at home," came from behind me. Then the guy in front started talking about how he has horrible arthritis, high blood pressure, he's at death's door etc. I wanted so badly to interrupt and see if he wanted my advice. I am going to risk it next time, just see what happens. Most people don't seem to really want to change anything but I guess I have nothing to lose. Imagine how awesome it would feel to turn someone on to this lifestyle who had never even heard of it?
Comment by Lisa Dee on September 27, 2012 at 6:51am Absolutely! It feels like sheer stupidity is winning....yet....I'm inclined to think that the proliferation of anti-carb articles out there is in some strange way, a good sign - could it be that the truth is growing? Do our opponents feel threatened? Is the mainstream media/medical industry becoming afraid that people are starting to doubt the high protein, high fat bullcrap?
If everyone were conforming, then why pound the anti-carb message sooooo relentlessly? I can't help thinking that ship is sinking and all the propaganda in the world is not going to save it.
Your story about the man in the supermarket reminds me of a newstory I once saw about a poor young girl who was sick with some form of cancer (can't remember - many moons ago.) What struck me at the time was that her mother was being interviewed and said something like "I'll try anything at this point! I just want my girl to heal!" and in the background there was footage of a party being held in the girl's hospital room and a big iced cake was served. I thought, "the mother is willing to try any therapy out there, but ~not~ diet? Is the idea that the food we eat actually impacting our health and our ability to fight disease so radical? So unthinkable?" How well we are conditioned and how much we conform. I don't know if diet could have helped that poor girl - but certainly experimenting with a diet protocol would have been something to at least try. I don't know - it's so perplexing. I smply don't understand people.
