30 Bananas a Day!

Today is my 5th day being vegan, and I'd say for about 80% of the time, I have eaten high carb low fat raw vegan. At home it's been fine, with little to no cravings of cooked food, and I'm usually pretty satisfied and stuffed with fruit. However, this past weekend was my mom's birthday, and she wanted to go to a Mexican Restaurant! A few weeks ago, I wouldn't have a problem with this whatsoever, but now that I'm vegan (struggling to be raw), there weren't many choices on the menu that were good for me. There were no salad choices, but only vegetarian dishes, filled with refried beans and cheese. Ew! I managed to bring along a few clementines to fill me up before hand, but it wasn't enough. So I ended up eating some friend rice, bean burrito thing, and some black beans. For the first time in a few days, I felt FULL. But not the good kind.

Anyways, I got passed that and tried to move on and everything was going great up until tonight, in which I attended a 4th of July BBQ. I one thing that I was proud of was my ability to fight off my mom's protests against me not eating any of the hot dogs or hamburgers. But I did snack on some chips, baked beans, and salsa, which all had waaay too much salt for my liking. 

I feel bad, but tomorrow is a new day, and in order to move on I must forgive myself. I will only get stronger from now on. I'm so glad I have this site for some support. I'm just wondering how I'll be able to handle future social events.

You're doing awesome Gretchen! You stayed vegan, so that on its own is great :D.

Make sure you're staying carbed up (which definitely helps with temptation at the beginning), even if that means having a high carb cooked dinner with potatoes, steamed veggies, rice, etc. Just keep it low fat.
