April 7th, 2012.
Ran my first 100K (60M) on the best (and yet mostly unknown) course in the whole NY area. It was an unsupported fun run with backpacks. 6,500ft combined elevation.
Two great runners - Michael Arnstein and Michael Oliva - mapped out this route, which takes you from the heart of Manhattan to the top of gorgeous Bear Mountain, all almost entirely on trails! Couldn't have wished for a better course for my first 100K. Overall it took us 13 hrs.
This is LIFE.
Refueling with not-from-concentrate pineapple juice.
Mile 56 - view from the Bear Mountain Bridge
Mile 60, 8:00pm - Top of the Bear Mountain,
Top of what life can offer.

Comment by Denis on April 12, 2012 at 11:05am Nope, no running-related injuries on fruits at all. When I just started running, my knees were hurting a bit the first few months, I did nothing and kept running occasionally, and it was it, no injuries. Sometimes I run barefoot style and step hard on some uneven rocks in the woods, become a bit concerned about the pain and go to make x-rays. Never turned out to be anything serious. But I'm more careful with fivefingers now.
sweet!
very very cool
