Just yesterday I went to see my doctor to ask her to give me Vitamin B12 shots, and I used being vegan as a excuse to need them. Before giving me a lecture on how all vegans are deficient in iron/protein/calcium, she told me that I wouldn't need them at my age (15/16) and that I should just take a Vitamin supplement. She's a very knowledgeable doctor, but only knowledgeable on the things that she was taught in med school. She insisted that I was deficient in iron when CRON-O-meter clearly says that I'm not deficient in anything except vitamins B12 and D.
So now that my doctor won't give me the shots, what can I do to increase my B12 levels? I've heard of this supplement (i forgot the name) that can be taken under the tongue but what is it and where can I find it?

Comment by ednshell on October 28, 2012 at 4:45am Ya take sublinguals they have been shown to work just as well. I prefer them over shots since they don't bypass the immune system, just the digestive system.
Comment by jamielor on October 28, 2012 at 4:42am I take a sublingual b complex. It works in the same way as the shots in that it is absorbed under the tongue and bypasses the digestive system. I got my blood tested recently and my b12 levels are optimal so I know it works. I am also low in iron so I started taking Floradix, a vegan herbal iron supplement that is great!
