30 Bananas a Day!

WTF. 5 Years ago, we had a banana tree in my back yard, which got ran over by a giant truck and then shredded by a lawnmower. This year a new baby one has started to grow, and I was excited at the prospect of bananas grown in my own back yard.

BUT NO.

My parents decided to get someone to mow the lawn today. The man mowed the lawn.

Ran into my banana tree.

Causing my banana tree to fall to the ground,

And then the guy (I swear to cover up for his mistake or something)

RAN OVER MY PRECIOUS BANANA TREE.

New banana plants (they are a herb and not a tree) develop from suckers.

You may have a sucker or two at the base of the banana from which a new plant can grow so don't despair

Here is a link to sucker management

We were living in Thailand a couple of years ago and I was amazed by how easily and quickly banana trees grow. Found a hacked off stump lying by the roadside, planted it and within a year we had bunches of bananas.

They are incredibly resilient, so don't despair, another will grow from it soon :-)

I'm so sorry. That poor tree. :(
