Rob and I have been hanging out in Davao Philippines on our durian research trip, Year of the Durian. But recently I've been distracted from durian by another temptress...MARANG! Sweet, juicy, soft slurpy yet so fresh and light, marang is my new favorite fruit! Wow, so good. It's actually a relative of durian, so I felt I had the excuse to write a blog post about it at www.yearofthedurian.com :) MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Comment by Borneo Monkey on September 2, 2012 at 11:27pm great! there are many rare types of durian can be found only in the jungle of Borneo, such as red durian and yellow durian, however, it depends on season. For the normal variety, you can always find it at Ranau and Sipitang. These two are the suburb areas in Borneo.
Comment by Durianwriter on September 2, 2012 at 2:34pm Awesome. I will be a happy camper in Borneo.
We're headed there in October to hunt durian. Do you have any tips for me about where to find durian? I'm really hoping to find d. kutenjensis or testudinarum.
Comment by Borneo Monkey on September 2, 2012 at 1:00pm this fruit is very common in Borneo and it is cheap too :)
