There's a pattern of mangoes I noticed. Early in the year there's the first crop of mangoes, usually the Haden variety that is full of fiber and gets stuck in your teeth easily. Next there's the Kent mangoes that are just awesome, but I noticed they are starting to go off season. Now there's only the large irradiated mangoes at the store, I won't even bother learning the cultivar name. Gross, maybe they thought it was too big to cook up. :P Luckily, there's going to lots of Altaufo mangoes towards fall, they cost a bit more but are definitely worth it. It's interesting doing 811 because you start to learn more about produce and the seasons in which a certain one is best. Also, to be honest, I totally did not know that the Northern Hemisphere's summer is the Southern Hemisphere's winter. Gosh, just what did I learn in elementary school? It feels like I'm learning all those things that are totally obvious things to me now that I didn't even bother to care about before. Or is it that I was particularly ignorant in my childhood? ¯\(°_o)/¯
