Looking for approval in Apple Sauce???

Hi, 

I have been majorly roller-coastering the past couple years... yes, YEARS.

And for some reason I don't feel like doing that anymore.  Simply don't have the energy OR interest in dealing with problems using nasty foods anymore...

SO I have been eating whatever HCLF things I crave and i think i feel GREAT yet I am confused.

Technically, I have been eating superb the last few meals:  Apple sauce, frozen banana slices, and cinnamon.  

And honestly I can see myself eating that combo for the next month straight.  But is store bought plain Apple Sauce alright to have regularly for a long period of time?  ...Could I do mono-meals w it?

I also wonder how bad citric acid is on a person who's transitioning and not yet truly clean.

Any advice is welcomed!  Please share your secrets ;)

wow! thank you everyone! It seems that everybody here is raw? That's incredible! Maybe I can reach that level of cleanliness one day~ Apple sauce that's homemade sounds Really delish =) Im thinking of combining everyone's idea for an EPIC APPLE SAUCE ;)  Blending a few varieties (my cheap blender will def give me a nice chunky consistency LOL) and mixing with a few berries, spices, and dates sounds SO good.  I'm so grateful for all of your wonderful ideas and comments, thank you!

Hey Kim, 

Honestly if you are at the point where you want more from life then give up the products and make your own apple sauce.  Blending dates with apples in the blender is so much more delicious than store bought anyway.  I did that for mono meals alot myself.  I even mix it with greens sometimes for a more "super food" effect lol.  Good luck!

jarred sauce is certainly better than most other items out there on the shelf.  Sure, it's had the daylights cooked out of it, but at least it's fruit.  Look for a brand that has apples and only apples as the ingredient, preferably organic.  No need to add extra sugars, preservatives, etc.  Long ago, I used to plow through jars of tasty Trader Joes Gravenstein Apple Sauce.  

That said, you can also make your own.  Cooked is easy, but if you have a powerful blender, you can even make it raw.  Just cut the chunks relatively small, add some water and blend to your desired consistency.

Have you tried eating apples blended up? Its apple season and there are a lot of delicious varieties!

In regards to applesauce, unless it is labeled "raw" it is not raw. The process of making applesauce involves cooking the apples. Video on how commercial applesauce is made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLX8cZ2Qb1g

However, I have found that if you peel raw apples, add some water and blend together, you can make raw applesauce, which is just wonderful. I add a little more water to make it more of a smoothie, which I have every morning, but I am sure if you add less water it will be thicker. What is nice about making your own raw applesauce is that it is totally fresh and you know exactly what is going into it. Also, you can spice it up by adding organic cinnamon, or even throwing some of your favorite berries into the mix. 

I hope you enjoy the LFRV lifestyle. It's nice because it is so much more simple and less stressful than worrying about the crazy variety of cooked foods and processed foods out there. good luck!
