30 Bananas a Day!

I am doing very well folks!

I joined Freelee's 30 day challenge. Yesterday was a bit rough as I made a terrible combo for dinner and went to bed hungry. I don't think I will be metal-ing with the greens like kale, or bok choy for my salads. However, today i realized kale and bok choy make nice additions to green smoothies. Since they both taste strong it just balances out nicely for my tastebuds. I am happy because I don't like to waste. I also enjoy salads with romaine, cucumbers, carrot, daikon radish, scallions and lemon juice. YUM! I have all organic produce including fresh cucumbers from my Grandma's garden!!!!

Anyways --- it has been one whole week since my last coffee. I am so proud of myself. I was never a heavy drinker. But I pretty much relied on a soy latte daily in the morning to "get going". I realize now that is not true. I feel fine in the morning without it. In fact I feel better!

1) I don't crash in the afternoon!

2) I am no longer irritable and feeling like I am going to explode with anger!

For the last few months I noticed that when becoming agitated I wanted to just scream and stomp. LOL. However, now I feel more like "myself" - mellow and patient. Which is important when you have a toddler. At first I thought it might be a coincidence, but it isn't...I have definitely seen a shift with my overall mood, and how I handle emotions. I now know I can never go back to it! Even though I haven't quite gotten it right, I have been able to give up diet soda, and coffee on this lifestyle (and again I am not perfect at it yet). So that's pretty cool.

Here is what I ate today:

Banana and kale smoothie

Banana, cherry and kale smoothie

Personal watermelon

Head of romaine with scallions, cucumbers, radish, carrots and lemon juice

1 L water

Now I need to work on increasing my water intake! Thanks for reading!

yes, coffee totally makes one more easily irritated. I have noticed this too. Plus, it sucks the color out of the face which I think might have something to do with the how it depletes the body of iron. Good for you for eliminating it. In my opinion it is the cause of a lot of angst out there.

I can relate. I used to be a coffee junkie and a caffeine freak! Seriously, I had days when I'd drink an entire pot of coffee or drink those crappy energy drinks that are sold just about everywhere. Now I'm realizing the real energy from nutritious foods is so much better than fake energy from stimulants. What used to be my morning cup (or 2 or 3) of coffee is now my morning smoothie. I feel like it's easier to just let go and to be less anxious living this way.
