I came upon this clip a couple of days ago:
"RECOVERING FROM 80/10/10 AND A FRUITARIAN DIET #379"
SecretsOfLongevity speaks against 80/10/10, to which I comment that people fail when they don't fully pay attention. I also remind him that his bland setup and quick verbal pace is a stressful mix - although, I must admit, I was probably wording it in a more provocative tone.
In the comments, you can probably spot the conversation I had with him. He keeps referring to other videos, while I try to keep him on track with the first one. When I finally look at one of his other videos, where he is debunking snake oil, I ask him how that is relevant to a discussion about the 80/10/10 diet. I was blocked.
I believe it proves that when a salesman is challenged and has no counter argument, and fails when pushing more of his own products, his circuitry starts frying.
Perhaps I was being harsh. I didn't mean for my comments to come across that way, but writing is an obscure element, and unfortunately it is often read with skeptical eyes.
I'm not totally opposed to superfoods or supplements, but not a single person has yet convinced me of the advantage. It is pretty darn difficult to argue against a ripe banana.

Comment by Martin Holde on July 16, 2012 at 9:46am It's funny how this guy looks different, depending on which channel he posts videos. He definitely doesn't have a natural glow of trust about him.
Also, on YouTube, redddbaron had this to say in response to my comments. Unfortunately, being blocked from this particular channel, I cannot respond anymore:
"Actually you need to qualify that statement. The 80/10/10 works for some people if applied correctly and if proper supplements are taken. It's great short term. It has an extremely high failure rate long term though. There are lots of reasons why people fail, but the most common are B-12 deficiency, Intestinal difficulties like yeast infections & diarrhea, cognitive difficulties caused by deficiencies in critical long chain omega 3 fatty acids, nerve damage, osteoporosis, and in rare cases death"
Working in healthcare, my experience is that alcoholics are in the most dire need for B-12 - their diet may be up to par, but the alcohol ruins every bit of it. However, it seems redddbaron is quite in love with Zak, the Secrets-of-Longevity-guy, who promotes the most outlandish stuff on the planet.
Comment by Craig Plunkett on July 15, 2012 at 7:20pm He deleted a good few of my comments, and I wouldn't be terribly surprised if I am now blocked.
Look at his classic villain's goatee!
Comment by DURIANRIDER on July 15, 2012 at 5:39pm That secrets of longevity guy is a joke. How can a 20 year old kid fresh out of high school be an expert in LONGEVITY! LOL!
Snake oil hucksters HATE being asked real questions.
Secrets of longevity should take your advice Martin.
Comment by YourSugaBumps on July 15, 2012 at 5:09pm Oh my goodness, I don't even know how you could stand to listen to the poor sound quality...But seriously, who is this guy to give me advise?
Comment by Martin Holde on July 15, 2012 at 11:16am I imagine he would enjoy Chicken Nuggets, seeing as they are probably the most processed of all foods.
Comment by Laura K on July 15, 2012 at 11:01am Bless his heart, did he say some foods aren't processed ENOUGH?? lol maybe I misunderstood, he speaks so poorly I couldn't follow some of it. Obviously he is grasping for straws now that he has abandoned his ethics and is eating tortured animals and their secretions again.
Comment by Martin Holde on July 15, 2012 at 8:26am Definitely! The picture below adds to that comedy! Ha ha ha
Comment by rawkbobster on July 15, 2012 at 8:22am dude is a loser. bananas are in his top 10 foods to avoid and bison among his top 10 to eat. better for your mental health to only watch this guy for comedy only.
Comment by Martin Holde on July 15, 2012 at 6:51am Mmm - bananas!
