Comment by Peter Csere on January 23, 2013 at 2:08pm Ahh, the age-old argument: Is humour a justification for mysogeny/racism/ethnocentrism/anthropocentrism/speciesism/etc?
Or, is spreading the vegan/fruity message a justification for [...]
Or you can boil it down to "Do the ends justify the means?"
Good luck with that one, folks :-P
It seems the only answer is to dispense with judgements and labels, and merely make observations. And we can observe what needs are being met or not being met, and refrain from trying to force conclusions onto others but hope that you can generate empathy through your observations and discussion.
Comment by Grace Bosley on January 23, 2013 at 12:53pm Woah! Guys! You just took that video way too seriously! We were just trying to make people smile and laugh. Brighten someones day. Things don't have to be so serious all the time.
Comment by issy on January 23, 2013 at 5:27am i was assuming we were a little more evolved ... that's all. It's so bloody unoriginal too. We see it all the time. Are these the only angles? The old phallic symbol routine!! Which men want to see this? I know some that do and many that don't. which women want to be 'what men like'? I dont know many... not in that regard anyway. Maybe I want to be 'what people like'... man? woman? person?
i haven't seen PETA adverts but I think I'd be disappointed in them too...
Comment by Vice Abattoir on January 23, 2013 at 1:32am issy, well... depends on the crowd it's aimed for. Showing a woman with a considered "phallic" symbol will attract men (they like what they see) and women (they wanna be what men like to see).
Personally i dislike any sort of sexual "advert" of veganism, especially PETA's weird adverts of a woman walking down the street looking like an abused wife with bruises and broken bones, which is a result of her boyfriend having so much stamina in bed after going vegan, he "wrecks" her.
From what i've seen, the "Sex sells" tactic is a last resort as a desperate manner and sadly it's almost always "selling" women.
801010 is way too good and truthful and beneficial to need to use tacky implies.
(this is mainly a thorn thrown to PETA's video cause i'm against violence, regardless of where it comes from and sexual exploitation of women for advertising sake)
Comment by issy on January 22, 2013 at 2:39pm no worries... but it's wierd the way noones made a vid with men eating bananas in a suggestive manner?
Comment by Dr. Mango on January 22, 2013 at 2:35pm :) I'm sorry but I instantly thought of 30BaD, how could I not!?
