Hi Ya'll, Heather here.
I am brand new to this lifestyle, though have been tiptoeing the line for about a month now. Some days will be raw, others will be the "junk food" vegan. Initially, I have lost weight, but for the past month it has stayed consistent, and I have days where I feel so tired. Then I found Durianrider's youtube page, and from there, Freelee's page, and I was so intrigued and interested!
I am one-third of the way through 811 book, and it makes so much sense! I identify myself with so many of the issues that the high fat vegans have.....bloating, digestion issues, acne, loss of energy, etc. I am pretty sure I have a candida issue too. On the subject of candida, I was telling my mom about this lifestyle and how Doug Graham talked about it being a fat issue, not a blood sugar issue with high amounts of candida. She told me, "Um, I don't think so....every diet guru has their theories". Now, I am the type of person that, in the moment, I end up being silent, but afterwards, a whole torrent of responses pop into my head and I am like, DARN!!! I should have said that and that and that!
It just all makes so much common sense to me, and I am so happy to be a part of this community, because I know I will succeed with the resources and support this site provides. I am excited and ready to join this journey with you all!
Peace,
HP

Comment by Natalie PB on October 14, 2012 at 11:53pm Hey Heather:) I'm new to this as well. I was tired of the vegan junk food binging and was looking for a more strict regime when I came upon this site. The idea of that much fruit was scary to me and I definitely didn't want to tell anyone because I knew their opinions would have an effect on my trying it.
So now a few weeks into things i've had a lot of ups and downs. One minute I love it and then the next I think i'm crazy to think this is normal. A lot of it has been going against what I have learned and what I hear and just seeing what my body is telling me.
I have stopped craving anything. I have always had huge cravings for random things depending what i'm restricitng. I'm also a huge snacker. While commuting on the train throughout the city I always feel the need to have a snack of crackers or nuts. However lately I have not felt the urge to snack! I make sure I get enough fruits and i'm actually satisfied.
So i'm still so new to this but everyday i'm feeling more comfortable with it and in balance. The biggest thing I crave are my banana shakes. I'm in love with my blender:P I'd love to connect with you Heather to see how things are going.

Comment by PaulaVeganGranny on October 14, 2012 at 1:57pm Best of luck to you in your new journey! I'm new to this too and I'm doing it to have a healthy, happy life. I think this is a spiritual journey too, and as we detoxify, we'll be able to get rid of all the poison in our bodies and minds.
Comment by Amanda on October 14, 2012 at 1:19pm Welcome! I can definitely relate, but you'll learn from personal experience the dramatic changes that take place low-fat raw vs high-fat... :)
Welcome! Enjoy a happier, healthier new you.
