Comment by LauraAnne on February 21, 2012 at 9:18am thanks all.....i ended up at a vegan restaurant prior to sushi...i feel aweful today...one thing about 811 is you MUST stay on it at all times...truth be said....i would have had more fun staying home....i don't think itis worth breaking your 'diet'/lifestyle just to hang with some people...
Comment by Diane L on February 20, 2012 at 6:13am I agree with eating a lot beforehand for starters.
Often these restaurants have great salads with very fresh ingredients so I usually get that. I have ordered two or three salads and really enjoyed my meal in these situations.
I do believe that California rolls are often made with fake crabmeat, but maybe it depends on the restaurant or part of the country you are in. I loved eating cucumber and avocado rolls when I was cooked vegan. Maybe you can get those without the rice.
Comment by Peter on February 19, 2012 at 7:20pm Don't stress about it. It sounds like a one off event so I would just get the California veggie rolls and enjoy the company of others.

Comment by karen enriquez lopez on February 19, 2012 at 4:07pm yeah! eat enough fruit before leaving, (I used to work in a sushi restaurant i was a "sushi maker" and like 3 or 2 times a client asked for sushi without rice!! and you know what?? i had to do it! lol because the client is always right and that's a restaurant's rule) the thing is ... you can ask for a california roll without rice, i know 8-1-1 doesn't accept NORI but I thing that if you eat one sometimes is not bad at all i mean... it's not an animal product, it's a plant and it's RAW :) but if you don't like it or dont want it... order a cucumber roll ( i hope the restaurant that you are going have theese) they are like a normal sushi roll just insted of nori is delicious and fresh cucumber outside just order it without rice ;)
Note. check the ingredients inside the rolls, here in Mexico we use to put some sea meat, philadephia, raw carrot, raw cucumber and raw avocado, in my case i would order... Hummm can i have a california roll without rice, meat and philadelphia?? Oh! i almost forget it, double portion of veggi, love them <3 !
lol if you have a good service dont forget to leave good tips! enjoy :)
Comment by LauraAnne on February 19, 2012 at 1:44pm great idea on avocado...i 4got about them :-) thanks Diana!!!!
Comment by Diana Menard on February 19, 2012 at 1:38pm I would eat enough fruit to fill me up before leaving and then order a few salads without the dressing when you get there. If you are doing overts, you can have them put avocado on it too (every sushi restaurant I've ever been too serves a simple salad and has avocado!).
