MY status on facebook:
"The beef industry has contributed to more American deaths than all the wars of this century, all natural disasters, and all automobile accidents combined. If beef is your idea of "real food for real people" you'd better live real close to a real good hospital." Neal Barnard MD
This guy I know who is a going to school to be a doctor replied:
Such a bold statement. The difference is people have the option to consume red meat (every meal) just as one has the choice to smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol. Cannot blame the industry when it is the consumer's fault. People that get in... accidents or war casualties, or natural disasters typically do not have that choice. Yes, over consumption of red meat is bad. But there are many beneficial attributes to consuming meat. There are links to colon cancer, myocardial infarctions, etc. to high fat/unhealthy diets. I think it is much better to educate the masses about proper eating habits and exercise than to make bold statements. Eating a hamburger is not going to kill you. However a continued unhealthy diet can cause long term health problems as well has unfortunate sequelae.

Who has told the consumer to eat meat, smoke cigarettes and to drink alchohal but the billion dollar industries who profit from them. I haven't had to see a doctor for years because of health issues, I guess this could scare someone wanting to become a doctor

You contradict yourself when you say eating a hamburger is not going to kill you...but an unhealthy diet can cause long term health problems. Hamburgers are not healthy...so they will utltimately lead to long term health problems. Which usually lead to death.
