I've been on the HCLF vegan lifestyle for a little over a month now, and I can't seem to be able to go completely raw. At first I wanted to slowly transition to raw, but now I feel as if my health won't improve as much as it would if I went completely raw. I went completely raw at times and it felt wonderful and I want that feeling 24/7. I wasn't carbed up for the past two days (under 2000 calories, today under 1000! Yikes!) since there wasn't enough of anything in my house, so I went for a bit of rice, and now I am paying the price with constipation :( Another thing that is bothering me is my weight, even though I learned to be a bit more patient. The past few days I've even considered taking a "break" from HCRV! I KNOW for sure that this lifestyle works, but I feel like I need an extra push to help me stay on track. I've figured that some of you may be feeling the same/similar way, so I'm starting the 2nd 30 Day Challenge that Freelee hosted back in June: http://www.30bananasaday.com/forum/topics/30-day-100-raw-vegan-chal...
This challenge can help anyone who just recently joined this lifestyle and didn't get the chance to participate in June; it can also help anyone who needs help staying on track. Compared to the challenge in June, this one's reward will just be improved health as well as the great feeling of accomplishment, which is more than fine by me! The same "rules" apply: no salt/superfoods/powders, 100% HCRV 811 style, and post your exercise, sleep, water intake, and food intake EVERYDAY so that you can stay on track while motivating others. Also like the challenge that Freelee hosted, it is a good idea not to post about it if you fall off the wagon. The challenge starts at any day of this week, that can mean from the morning that you read this blog to this Sunday. So this challenge ends between November 8th-November 12, 2012. Since it's now the evening here in New York, I'll start this challenge tomorrow morning :)
I hope you can all join me and if you do, Good Luck! :D

Comment by Sophia Shanez on December 1, 2012 at 9:06am Money is really tight in my family right now and has been for the past month, so I had to go with rice instead and I don;t feel as good as I used to. The processed carbs don't satisfy me and they make me feel heavy inside. I'm gonna start this challenge again to make sure I stay on track despite my budget. Hope things work out.

Breakfast: freshly squeezed orange juice
Lunch: 6 bananas+grape-banana smoothie
Dinner: salad with lettuce and LTD dressing
Exercise: none

Feelings: I finally bought a sublingual B12 supplement and just started taking it a few days ago. I made sure it's vegan before buying it, though it may not be raw but I'm fine with that. Mine is Source Naturals MethylCobalamin, if you're interested in buying one yourself.

Comment by Sophia Shanez on November 2, 2012 at 9:38am Day 22
Breakfast: 10 banana smoothie
Lunch: 7 bananas
Dinner: Tofu salad (tofu with raw veggies)
Water: 1.5 liters
Exercise: walking
Sleep: 8 hours
Feelings: As you can see I had tofu, which isn't raw! My mom and I were invited to dinner by our doctor, who is Chinese. And for us Chinese, it is really hard to refuse an invite (especially an invite to lunch or dinner). This dish was the most raw dish I could find on the menu. But the thing is, I don't feel guilty at all since it was vegan/cruelty-free. I only had a few pieces, anyways. And I'm not going to freak out and stress over one meal just because it is not raw. I would only eat cooked vegan food if I know I have no other choice but to do so. I'm just going to continue this challenge and finish it and continue being 99% HCRV for the rest of my life! :D
Comment by Sophia Shanez on November 1, 2012 at 9:47am Day 21
Breakfast: 2 bananas
Lunch: 2 large cucumbers
Snack: 8 bananas
Dinner: 6-banana smoothie
Total caloric intake: 1650
Sleep: 10 hours (Yay!)
Exercise: an hour of walking and carrying groceries
Water: 1.5 liters
Feelings: I thought I was gonna starve today since I ran out of food right after Hurricane Sandy, but then the weather was nice enough to go out so my mom and I went to a Chinese supermarket and they had bananas on sale! They were making them super cheap (2 bags for $1) since they were spotty-which is exactly what I wanted-so I brought home 8 bags so now I've got well over 50 bananas.
Comment by Sophia Shanez on October 30, 2012 at 9:59am Day 20
Breakfast: Dateorade
Lunch: salad with spinach and romaine lettuce, plus banana-scallion dressing
Snack: Persimmon, a small piece of avocado
Dinner: Grale juice

Feelings: Hurricane Sandy is effecting New York City, so I'm not gonna feel like going out for the next few days. Once the weather improves, I'd love to officially join a running club and skate in Central Park.
Comment by Sophia Shanez on October 29, 2012 at 1:35am you are right about the water. So long as my urine is almost clear then I won;t need any more liquids. I'm not a fan of fasting, but I'll definitely check out your videos :)

Lunch: Salad (swiss chard, tomatoes, and spinach) with banana-scallion dressing
