Freelee's challenge: 1 year of doing the whole shebang--diet, exercise, water, sleep, etc. Stop worrying about weight gain and the momentary ups and downs of detox. Just do it!
Exercise
2 hrs. gardening (volunteer)
Food
Meal 1: 18 C. watermelon
Meal 2: 33 Barhi dates, 1 English cucumber
Meal 3: 8 Autalfo mangos, 4 C. sliced strawberries, 5 C. leaf lettuce from my garden
3049 cal. 90/4/6 C/F/P, 100 mg. sodium (no table salt)
Water
16 cups/ 128 oz.
Sleep
Slept o.k. from 10:00-8:30. Itching was terrible. My rash (actually it's really more like hives) seemed to be worse
Today's Pleasures
Going to court with some clients--fascinating and able to be a big support for scared people
Volunteering at the community garden that I helped to start, reconnecting with old friends
Watching my kids play in the dirt and have fun
Staying raw
Having lots of people say, Happy Birthday.
Detox
Itchy rash in various spots on my chest, stomach, arms, and legs--worse today
White coating on my tongue
Swollen, dark under-eye circles in the morning
Minor redness and bumpiness on forehead, nose and chin
Stress level
Low
Daily Thoughts
Another one of my coworkers got the illness that I have. She went to the doctor and got tested and they found out that it is Haemophilis. She is going to take some nasty antibiotics and prednisone for it. I believe I may have developed cellulitis on my chest as a result of scratching the hives I have been struggling with.
So I think that I will try to rest more today and stay raw again.
I had itchy flare-ups all day and night yesterday, but I'm just not willing to take nasty drugs that are going to give me terrible side effects and get into my breastmilk and into my child.

Comment by ORGANIC811LFRV on June 9, 2012 at 11:58am Jon, I think you know me well enough from our communications that SUPERVISION is always #1 in my book. Even educated people need a watchful experienced person holding their hand.
I agree that she is detoxing. I agree that the whole foods raw and hopefully organic frugies will assist. When a situation goes on for a long period of time, this is when I recommend a SUPERVISED fast of a substantial length of time.
We differ on that issue. No problem.

Comment by Jon Fergus on June 9, 2012 at 11:49am HI Karen. I wrote the comment mostly coming from my own perspective, but partly from 30BaD guidelines (our perspective is that a clean lifestyle, with proper hydration, sleep, food, etc., requires no additional 'cleanses'). Also, fasting = purposeful calorie restriction.
So for someone in the position of detox while in the first stages of 811, I'm (personally) highly against fasting, and the 30BaD rule-of-thumb is to stick with the program, instead of venturing into fasts or other remedies. Greenmama is experiencing detox and many things will come to the surface, but the way through it is to continue, unabated, with 811 HCRV.
The other thing about fasting is what ednshell touched on, and that's professional supervision. From my vantage, people who attempt fasts on their own almost always do it in an unhealthy way, to their detriment.
Definitely saw your comment as trying to help her, and am always happy to see the underlying effort to aid one another. :) I probably could've phrased my response so it wouldn't come off as abrasive (which wasn't my intention).
Thanks for your understanding. :)
Comment by ednshell on June 9, 2012 at 11:09am I agree with Jon about not doing the water fasting for week. 30BaD has nothing official written about water fasting but what we have seen, and Harley and Freelee have posted about this many times here, is that people go into it thinking it's an easy fix but quickly run into problems with it, eating less healthy afterwards and/or going into a cycle of bingeing and fasting. Dr. Doug does not recommend going longer than 3 days without professional supervision and only for illness', it's certainly not something he typically starts people out on. Banana island is what Dr. D frequently puts people on who are starting out on 811 which can be a nice way to jump start and give the digestive system a rest while cleaning out, (both the soluble and insoluble fiber helps clean us out).
Comment by ORGANIC811LFRV on June 9, 2012 at 10:15am Greenmama, I didn't know you were still nursing actually. If you mentioned it, it didn't stick with me, sorry. I am happy that you are upping your greens. Let us know how that works.
Hugs
Karen
Comment by Greenmama on June 9, 2012 at 8:30am I appreciate where you were coming from in suggesting the fast, Karen. I am a nursing mom and have personal issues that make a water fast impossible at this time. I intend on upping my greens.
Comment by Stephanie Rene on June 9, 2012 at 7:16am ...and so sorry about the itches. I am nervous to see what my own detox symptoms will be...hang in strong.
Comment by Stephanie Rene on June 9, 2012 at 7:16am You are so freaking inspiring to me!!! You go girl! A Happy birthday to you and here's to a beautiful year for you this year! I am glad we are friends via the web and hopefully someday soon face to face. I hope your family is celebrating you as much as you deserve!
Comment by L on June 9, 2012 at 6:39am I agree with upping the greens. Personally, I feel horrible going with little to no greens. As soon as I add in greens, I start losing water retention and start feeling happier :) .
