So yesterday was Worldwide Vegan Pizza Day. I decided to take the night off from HCRV so that I could share vegan pizza with my three good friends who I feel are SO CLOSE to making the switch from SAD to vegan. They've expressed dismay at the thought of giving up cheese, so I thought this would be a great opportunity. And it was, we made some fancy pizzas that tasted delicious and my younger brother decided to go vegan again(had fallen off the wagon after a two month go) right there on the spot when I told him about morphine in dairy. So that was a win.
Right now, I am suffering a serious loss, however. I have not been bloated, sick, tired, or remotely uncomfortable in the past 7 months eating 100% HCRV, except for the potato emergency I wrote about, but I'm not counting that because it was potatoes or starve- restrictive past, so not an option. Right now, I am all of those things. The pizza tasted good, but that's about it. I felt fine immediately after but at around 2am I started feeling like I had heartburn. It was all downhill from there.
I've been too sick to eat yet today, but I have chugged almost 4 litres of water trying to flush this crap out. I'm gonna try hiking later when it's cooler out, but right now there is no way I'm even leaving the house. I never want to eat cooked food again, in any form, ever.

Comment by AJ on July 4, 2012 at 6:01am Mera- Why citrus? That's interesting, because once I was able to eat I CRAVED oj and had a couple liters. I'm still craving it today, started my morning with a combo of grapefruit and orange juice =] Is it the vitamin c?
Comment by Mera/Feather Story on July 3, 2012 at 8:08pm Dairyeaters anonymous is a great idea! I almost bought a pizza the other day because it was on close-out and super cheap...I occasionally get tempted by good prices in the vegan gourmet aisle, just because I remember what it was like when I thought those were the best foods ever. I totally understand how you feel though...and all I can think is try eating a lot of citrus...
Comment by Claire Cathrin on July 3, 2012 at 5:42pm Way to take one for the team. Life's gotta be rough when you feel bloated for a day or two. Luckily we can all rest well knowing that a few people have been converted from their SAD diets to the better life of veganism.
Comment by AJ on July 3, 2012 at 2:36am ah thanks for the info! i read an article that seemed very legitimate about how actual morphine was found in cow's milk that they had examined. maybe it's not naturally occurring, but somehow was yielded when all the growth hormones and chemicals were introduced? frankenfood's a doozy, you never know. i will definitely do more research now because the last thing i want to do is discredit vegan by spreading misinformation.
i'm feeling better now though! took it easy and had 2L oj and a few juicy organic peaches, and two bunches of celery =] so fresh so clean, thanks for the comments everyone!
Comment by Rampreet Schultz on July 3, 2012 at 2:24am :( I had a recent experience in eating a vegan "italian sausage". whatever was in it and the vegan cheese made me have acid reflux and heartburn. no vegan cooked gourmet for me. i found that eating cold juicy fruits (mango, grapes, plums, melon sp) helped me flush this out. <3
Comment by Ines Caldas on July 3, 2012 at 1:38am Although not being morphin, casamorphin trigger the same receptors where morfine acts...that's why it is addictive!
Nice. You can thank your body, that he is still able to go back to basic. Life-force is incredible!!! This makes me so happy. Sorry that you suffer...
Comment by Almasy on July 2, 2012 at 10:54pm There's no morphine in dairy...
Comment by Catherine on July 2, 2012 at 1:16pm Maybe we could put together a raw pizza ? A date and coconut crust with some delicious ripe fruit sliced on top ? We would get the rawzza and avoid the heartburn !!! Let's try it !
Comment by Esra on July 2, 2012 at 8:13am I hope you feel better soon! It was a sacrifice, and it was probably great for your friends as that showed them that they can have their pizza too :). Congrats to your brother for going the veg way!
