i'm so lucky to live with my fruity sister nicole. we surprise each other all of the time by bringing home delicious ripe goodies like jackfruit and champagne mangoes, visit the markets together to scope out hot deals, and when i say 'let's go for lunch' there is no confusion; it always means going to the store to pick up watermelon or oranges and eating them on a hill in the sun or at the beach.
and we have a great system going on. i peel da mangos, she slices da mangos. she makes the zuggheti noodles, and i make the sauce. slicing and dicing, washing and peeling, so much quicker and enjoyable when you have someone to prepare and eat a meal with.
we let each other off when it comes to a heaping compost bin and sticky counter tops. i give her a hard time when she leaves her smelly durian peels inside over night and she busts my butt when i eat all of the dates without replenishing them first. a heap of banana peels on the counter is acceptable when eating on the fly and wasting any salad at all es no bueno. we call each other during times of need and will deliver fruit to one another knowing full well the importance of getting in enough calories.
we have our own version of the rawbrah's song "we're the raw sistahs" and do a lot of singing and dancing to our own tunes. we both agree eating mangoes in the wild with a lover would be most enjoyable ('just peel and mow. no knife or bowl, messy runny ooey gooey pulp and juice running every where, take turns licking the juices off each other, hop in the ocean to wash off') we both dream of having an animal sanctuary/fruit farm/hostel/off-the-grid-life and i know with her, all dreams are possible.
it is so wonderful to share this life with someone else. it gives me an idea of what it will be like when i'm sharing it with a fruity manboy. the future looks really good.
so here's to YOU nicole, you wonderful bubbly messy girl you.
i love fruit, i love life, i am so unbelievably happy and LUCKY.
don't live this lifestyle alone!!! it's too perfect not to share.
