Does Anyone Else Feel Like "The Crying Indian" Whenever They Go Outside?

Does anybody else feel like The Crying Indian from that commercial from the 70's whenever they go outside and see the mess that careless people make of this beautiful planet? It literally makes me sad. I was out for a bike ride today (just a quick spin around town to get my lymph flowin', I was feeling stagnant sitting around the house studying) and I had my backpack on to help with doing some errands. Whenever I have my backpack on and I see some plastic bottles, cans, etc. I usually stop and pick them up to toss them in my recycling bins. I did the same thing yesterday. And I was almost disgusted seeing all new garbage that was thrown in the ditches. Packaged cheese crackers, rolls, Gatorade, soda cans, beer cans...the concoctions that society "runs" on.

Not to be a total downer: I was re-inspired after thinking of The Starfish Story as I was picking up a beer can. Every single piece of trash makes a difference. It went from polluting the face of Mother Earth to a recycling center to be turned into something usable again, all because of me. I was also reminded of one of Harley's older YouTube videos where he picked up a can to recycle and said "Picking up a bit of trash stretches the hamstrings!".

So I encourage all of you to be the change you want to see and make a difference for you and the planet NOW!

Melissa, that's a beautiful video you made! It really does feel good to start making a difference. :D Just think, if everyone started doing it, there's literally be nothing to pick up because people would think twice before tossing it out their window. It all starts with a spark...

Dr. Gosia, it most certainly is!

Isabella, I used to be pretty germaphobic as well. Then I started studying natural hygiene and found out that bacteria and germs are nothing to be afraid of. But there still is a slight "ew factor" sometimes. Like today I was picking up a beer can on the side of the road and there was a bit of stinky beer still in the can. For a split second I thought about dropping it, but then though, well I'm picking this up right now because nobody else is. Like I (and Gandhi) said, be the change you wanna see!

I feel that way too. I wish I could pick it up but I'm slightly germaphobic. I have to work on that.

GOOD FOR YOU! I started doing the same thing! When I went for my morning run/walk with my dog, I brought a plastic bag and picked up whatever I could reach in our park. Its a great feeling to help out isn't it? Im so glad that you do this too!!!
