30 Bananas a Day!

I've been inspired by those here who are eating 2500+ calories and reaping the benefits. I want to do the same, so I'm setting a challenge for myself to increase my calorie intake to 3000.


Right now I'm barely scraping past 1800. I've been adding dates to my banana smoothies to get the sugar in. Mangoes are really helpful right now too.


Today is only day 2, so my immediate goal is to get between 2000-2500. Then 2500-3000, etc.


I will say this - last night I had the soundest sleep in a long time. Rock on.


I was planning to start this on Saturday, but the hell with new year resolutions.


When I mentioned this to DH, he commented on how tired I get towards the end of the week. Pretty much like clockwork. I hadn't even realised it happening so consistently..... I guess over the last few weeks/months he's been noticing. Not a great role model for lfrv right now. Being the only vegan in my social group (with only one other vegetarian), I have more at stake than "just" my own health.


I gotta say though, I've never had a more enjoyable challenge than to eat more fruit :P

Thanks hellicat, I will be collating results in all areas and this change has begun this morning. I'm drinking my 2 litres of water before exercising and eating right now and today I am going out to buy a second fridge, the biggest fridge I can to store my fruit. It's on like donkey kong!

That's awesome Jennifer- even my hubby used to be like that but I'm gradually getting him onto more fruit and more cooked vegan foods. I know you'll blow this workmate outta the water! I hope you include results like sleep quality, mood, and energy levels because this dude will feel terrible.


Louel thanks for the support <3 I bought some HUGE organic dates yesterday and I'm looking forward to blending them up with some bananas after I do yoga today. I seem to recall you didn't do much dateorade but you got a lot of cals with OJ? Wish I could get some nice OJ here but I don't think it's orange season right now!

Hellicat, good luck and I will second you in this challenge and want to start my NY resolution early. I understand how you feel about being an example. I have a young guy in my team at work who only eats high protein and the lowest carb he can manage i.e. he eats animals and protein powders only and I have told him that I am going to do 3000 cals a day low protein and huge carb and we will compare results, I'm looking forward to putting my money where my mouth is and recording the results.  Food scales - check, cron-o-meter - check, GAME ON - check!
