Comment by Happy Healthy Vegan on September 24, 2012 at 10:19am while i buy my weekly 40 lbs. of organic bananas other various fruits and vegetables, i still will throw in some low fat high carb non-raw food at times, primarily beans and brown rice. i know there's many here who would say to avoid them altogether though. and while i prefer my raw fruits and veggies - they make me feel the best - i find the beans and rice to work out well. i don't notice any negative effects on things like energy, mood, and athletic performance. about the only difference i notice is that i feel the digestion more than i do with the raw food. i choose these foods often when i'm eating out and there's not much else on the menu that works.
and yes, i'd avoid the juice feasts big time; avoid taking in juice without the pulp. instead make smoothies! banana and date smoothies are super popular here. if you have diabetes, you should be fine as it's the effects of having too much fat in the diet rather than too much cooked low fat food that you should be concerned about. read Dr. Neal Barnard's books, in which he shows how eating a low carb vegan diet (doesn't have to be raw) essentially cures diabetes.
