I found a really interesting article that explains why when we eat more than we need we rapidly gain weight, but then it slows down. And "overeating" even healthier foods(fruits and veggies being #1!!) leads to more lean mass gain and even more with weight training.
That also explains why we should not roller coaster our calories from 5000 to 2000 back and forth, the adaptation process is weight gain. That's why yo-yo dieting on ANY food can lead to increased weight and sluggishness. So be consistent when upping your calories, don't suudenly drop them back down expecting that you will lose the weight you gained. So EXERCISE instead, to reduce body fat levels.

So people who are upping calories up and up, don't be guilty because you gained weight, it WILL stabilize if you don't drop it back down. People eating less only have bodies adapted to survive on less.
Just use common sense when dealing with nature-
prolonged restriction in order to survive then ALOT of food eating=weight gain in the bodies result of fear that you will not finding those caloric sources again.
