I heard about raw food on tv after multiple acute pancreatic attacks. I ended up being diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis & GERD, the doctor's removed the gall bladder to keep me from acute pancreatitis attacks.
I failed over & over year after year on the gourmet raw food way feeling terrible about my failures. I was online this summer, yet again, researching how to succeed on the raw food lifestyle & came across Dr. Graham's 80/10/10 book & got my light bulb moment.
I'm married & we live in a very small 1 bedroom (studio sized almost) apartment with little to no storage. He's supportive but still eating the SAD diet. I took Mr. Graham's advice on my own transformation process. I can't seem to eat enough fruit yet so I've made it to all raw in the day with a SAD dinner. I hope to be all raw for the new year!
We are looking into making this work by finding all the FM, Co-Op's, & Wholesale so we can get enough food & then of course how to store & ripen in sections. I am blessed to have a husband who is willing to go on this journey with me in any capacity.

Comment by Raw Pixi on May 10, 2012 at 8:33pm Hi Preeti! Chronic Pancreatitis is NOT fun! I'm not sure how far along your friend's condition is but I hope this helps... Folks w/ regular digestion can experience the same issues w/ high fiber introduced into a diet but will regulate on its own w/ time. Pancreatitis itself can cause gas & bloating due to reduced digestion. I use ginger root to sooth. I have a vita mix & it pulverizes the food so its easier to digest, so on "bad" days/wks I go all smoothies. I, also, have used digestive enzymes from the health food store to aid digestion if things don't improve on their own. My gastroenterologist has offered the expensive pain & digestion assistance medication but we both agree that it's best to put that off for as long as possible. My tests with the gastroenterologist shows the body is responding well. One thing having a chronic health issue has taught me is to listen to my body & take it easy on myself. I stick to proper food combining & mono meals to make digestion all the easier. Let me know how your friends journey progresses?
Comment by Preeti Singh on April 6, 2012 at 2:53am Hi Raw Pixi Its great that you did your transitioning last year. A friend of mine has chronic pancreatitis and she tried transitioning to 80/10/10. However, 5 days into the diet and trying to eat 2000 calories to meet her nutritional requirements, she ran into issues with a lot of pain and bloating in her stomach. She belives its induced due to the fruits. Did you have any problems while transitioning? I would love to hear your experience.
thanks
Preeti
