I am brand spanking new to 30BAD and feel all fuzzy and excited to be here.
I have been vegan for a year now (before that on and off for a few years) and rant on to anyone who will listen about the evils of the dairy industry, living in NZ where our economy is based on dairy not that many people want to listen, plus we have some of the highest rates of milk and meat consumption in the world - and of course all the diseases that go with.
Any-ho I blab on and on to everyone and then scuttle of home and binge on beer and chocolate (vegan of course) I not just talk the talk but shout that talk but I have not been walking the walk for a long time!
After reading "Eat to Live" and "The China Study" a few years ago I got passionate and changed my diet and have never looked at meat again. However have not kept to eating healthfully over the years - not even close! I have got to be one of the most unhealthy vegans out there. The stupid thing is I have even read 80/10/10 and tried it for a month, lost weight, moods leveled, won my first running race, clear skin etc. All the stuff you would expect to happen on such a great nourishing way of eating but of course I fell of it and started drinking again and this lead to bad food choices and well I spiraled out again (twice!).
So this brings me to this website! I realised I can not do this all on my own! I need to share my ups and downs, and well there is no one in person to do this with as most people I know think I am weird for just not eating butter let alone trying to live on bananas ( I have the feeling many people out there can relate!).
So here goes I am going to start the move back to a happy life full of beautiful abundant lush fruit, just wish I wasn't doing this in the middle of winter - but on the up side mangoes are $1.20NZ at the moment.
Here's to stopping ranting and starting to live!

Comment by Natt Smith on July 22, 2012 at 1:04pm Welcome Olivia and welcome to the journey to better health and well being. I'm on day 14 totally raw and I still have cravings but the benefits totally outweigh them. I'm here if you ever need a buddy to help talk you through them. Sometimes we all need a voice of reason! :)

Welcome to 30BaD!
For inspiration to stay away from the beer, chocolate and other unhealthy temptations even though vegan, this website might be inspirational:
