So I recently got some blood work done. I received the following:
Serum B12
Homocystine
Uric Acid
Vitamin D
Complete blood count (CBC)
Metabolic Panel
Got a call from the Doc last Friday saying I was extremely low in B12 (may be pernicious anemia). I have yet to get the full results myself, because he wanted me to come in and see him.
He knows I'm vegan, so I expect a lecture on how much "danger" (lol) I'm putting myself in by not eating dead animals. He literally said, I quote: "This could be all taken care of if you just ate a cheeseburger once a week."
Say it with me... wwwOooooooooooowww!
It concerns me how out of the loop most doctors are. I should soon be getting my copy of "Could it be B12?" on Harley's recommendation.
Believe it or not, it's actually a bit of a relief for me, because I've had symptoms of B12 deficiency since I was in Jr High School!! This very well could be a missing link to my health.
I just wrote this as encouragement for others who suffer from fatigue, anxieties, depression, brain fog more than they'd like on a fruit-based lifestyle to get your levels checked.
I'll be supplementing with a methycobalamin sublingual spray.
I may decide to post the blood results when I receive them. That's all for now, fruitcakes. ;-)

Comment by Rob Altadonna on February 8, 2013 at 6:38am Thanks Kati! I know that the methycobalamin shots are the most assured way to jack up B12 levels, but my doc was against it when I mentioned it.. he said I might get a "reaction" - btw this is the same guy pushing f***ing vaccines on me every time I see him. Nothing makes sense to me with these people..
Apparently he wants to monitor my levels, and he told me to take an oral supplement, which I know is crap. So I figured a sublingual would be a lot better. I guess I'll just wait and see, but the waiting is the worst part.. ugh! I just want to feel better!!
Green Goblin you're not doomed bro! Lol! Can you ask a doc for a blood test?? Tell em you're a vegan and you want to get your B12 levels checked (with homocystine). Shouldn't be a problem..
Comment by GreenGoblin on February 8, 2013 at 2:40am You cant get b12 shots here in the Uk so what else option have i got ive ordered subligual b12 but have heard they aren't as good as shots where is it possible to get these b12 shots in the Uk its only a prescription drug so you cant get it over the counter :( I'm doomed also really bad digestion and energy levels ive been felling really tired and dizzy, but the big one is my constipation i am eating cocked but with allot of fiber from fruits :(
