Hi there,
I am starting over today. Really starting over. I don't exactly know what happened the last weeks, but it was horrible - I ate everything I could get my hands on (vegetarian at least), drank lots of bear and tried so many new things after moving to spain 2 weeks ago. I feel like I am nearly exploding (so fat) and its an awful feeling. I started my day with water and a mango (no other fruit available) and will go to the market soon to buy tons of fruits + veggies.

Comment by nihal bhat on August 12, 2012 at 3:14pm yep spain is not too cold as its Mediterranean. this is for temperate climates(like out here in west sydney) it is best to use, so when u visit home wuld b ideal.
i also recommend bagging them and putting em in the fridge, as the box shown has accelerated without the blanket, so u dont want spoilt product.
they are definitely tasting 'creamy' consistency so they are perfect still.
Comment by steffi on August 12, 2012 at 5:09am That's good to know! I have no problem in ripening bananas here, but if I return next year to my cold home country I could maybe use this, thanks!
Comment by nihal bhat on August 11, 2012 at 7:22pm they taste sweet and fresh, there is no difference to normal banana ripened during normal conditions in my own opinion. just dont keep it for more than 2 nights then it will go off a bit taste wise.
Comment by steffi on August 11, 2012 at 6:42pm Wow this is supercool!! How is the taste of the ripe bananas? :)
Comment by nihal bhat on August 11, 2012 at 2:41pm in the below photo. the one on the left has been placed under the electric blanket and throw for about 2 nights only, and the one on the right is the control(never kept under blanket). both were bought in the same batch on the same day. One is still not ripe to eat. One is already halfway thru eating.

I am curious how your banana-riping experiment will go on!
Snacked cocktail-tomatoes, cucumber and olives this lunch and a few nectarines. With this heat (~40° C) I am not as hungry as I am with cold weather.
Comment by nihal bhat on August 2, 2012 at 7:42pm link to how to ripen bananas faster. i am especially grateful to the soul who wrote this, i have tried all the methods, and i only found this one last week. it works on medium setting, takes about 2 nights to go ripe.

Comment by nihal bhat on August 2, 2012 at 7:36pm hi steffi. i am from down under australia(same as Freeelea, DR), but of indian origin. i will upload my picture in a couple of days. yes its been a 7 yr long health journey, a journey for all of us here on these boards. i started out from 0 as a meat eater, then cooked vegan(indian curry lentil, starch based), raw food and then 30BAD. i'd have to say the worst of all diets was the raw food fat types, it was just not tasty at all for me. and had no benefit. we have a large high fat raw movement here. i can't stand raw nuts i am highly allergic to them.
And yes i have considered my starchy based mild curry diet i was on(carrots, potatoes, rice, chappathis, lentils), but its not who i am anymore. so i will wait patiently for the bananas to ripen is best, learn from mistake by buying higher quantity.
re- your partner, i totally see where you come from. My dad i live with eats mainly my old vegan diet(but with a ***load of dairy yoghurt) and the smell gets everywhere in the house incl. my room. if i do under-calorie it does get tempting as i ate this diet for nearly 7 years.
best method here would be to respect his diet and journey, and when at home continue your journey. when outside /travel just take a lot of your fruit, most of it is portable, or blend it and put it in a flask, prior to going out is easier.
it has been a good story for most of us.

Good to hear that other people have the same problems.
For me, it is also hard to stick to healthy food because my partner won't. He is okay with potatoes, beans and vegetables for dinner, but sees fruit not as his favourite breakfast / lunch possibility and eats bread and all that stuff I used to love. At least he does not have a problem with what I am doing, and I remember that in the beginning - 5, 6 month ago - I found it extremely hard to switch my breakfast from bread to fruit. Something, I cannot understand anymore as I just love fruit so much and it get's easier every day.
Ripe fruit do we have here, luckily. Where are you from? Maybe you can use these hard winter months and stick to the "starch solution", or as Chris Randall and Durianrider sometimes say the "2nd best option" - cooked starches, add this with veggies etc.?
Success with your bananas :)
