Good evening!
Today was a much better day than I thought it would be! So relieved!
SLEEP
Yesterday didn't go as planned as my very pregnant Sri Lankan neighbour was experiencing pains and I needed to call the ambulance for her (she doesn't speak French very well). I waited for the vehicle with her and got to bed excited and worried (and late!). Today she's back home and much better - the baby's doing fine in her Mummy's womb.
But actually, I didn't feel very tired today - my 'fuel' is so good that I think I deal much better with stressful situations. I've also noticed I've got fewer mood swings. And I feel slender and pretty, which is incredible! I'm also much less shy than I used to be.
However, tonight I'll listen to some podcasts from MeditationOasis.com and I know that'll make me very peaceful before falling asleep.
FOOD
I've brought my bananas to my workplace today and kept eating them all afternoon long. See? I'm progressing!
What made me VERY happy is that I've finally succeeded with my raw carrot curry recipe! This time, the amount of curry and onion was just right:
- 2 carrots
- 1 red bellpepper
- 1/2 cup of shredded onion
- 1tsp of curry powder
- 2 cups of water
But without so much water, it may be a good salad dressing. I'll try that some day! Now, I understand that curry and onion are not especially 811 if I'm not mistaken, but this is my little twist, I hope you won't mind.
So, my stats:
- 1851 calories (wink, wink, Organic811LFRV!)
- protein: 60g = 8.9%
- carbs: 438g = 85%
- fat: 11g = 5.3%
I still have to eat half a melon and 3 apples. Yum!
I have SO much fun!
EXERCISE
I've made a very slow karate exercise with my son - I guess it was a bit like tai chi and it was relaxing.
I'll now cycle for 20 minutes.
WATER
I think I'm not as thirsty as I used to be - my body is finally getting proper hydration! Nevertheless, I'm still drinking more than 3 litres a day.
TODAY'S PLEASURES
- Seeing Hubby's smile when he heard me singing (I'm so happy I sang all evening long!)
- Seeing Hubby, Sunny and Daughtery (!) enjoy my soup! What a sweet feeling!
- Seeing Baby Anya send me a kiss - so awkward and cute!
- I've found a great idea to keep busy and 'spread' raw food this summer - I'm going to give my milk to premature babies! So excited about that - it's simple and quick and if it can help babies, I'll be delighted.
That's it for today! Thanks for reading and May the Fruit be with you!!!

Proud of you, Nan
Comment by Minium on June 7, 2012 at 12:32am Wow! How right you are! I've just calculated my basal metabolic rate and I added my usual activities. How eye-opening as you said - 2107 calories! I thought that marking papers meant I didn't need that much. How wrong was I!
So as you recommend, I'll definitely up the amount I consume, starting right now. Mmmh, do I smell a cantaloupe melon?! Yum yum yum! I loooooove eating!
Comment by ORGANIC811LFRV on June 6, 2012 at 9:36pm First off you are the kind of neighbor I would love to live next door to. 2ndly you are right. Carbing up and sleeping and all the other 9 yards to this program enables us to function as caring human beings. Too bad that isn't advertised more, hey?
Your carrot soup without the curry has me interested. I'll probably give it a try. Carrots, onions, curry, garlic are all off-811 program. My own point of view is a little different and I'm fine on my way. I use garlic and herbs and onion on occasion. Actually chives and sweet onion bulbs. To me this is minimally. We may decide to transition off of these later. Honestly this is no biggie for me.
We have done so much changing towards healthy eating.
As to your calories: I am very proud of this and also the bananas. Well done. However, I'd like you to consider this calculation: Get your basal metabolic rate. There are calculators on line that are free and easy to use. Mine is around 1200 at 110 lbs. This is the amount of calories needed by the body to run itself without doing anything else. Add to that your daily normal activity. Mine is another 100 per hour. So, that brings me up to about 2200 calories needed to get through my day. Then add exercise on top of that. For this I add an additional 50 per hour for house cleaning because that is all I have time to do recently: so that brings another 500 added equalling 2700 total needed for my day.
I would like you to calculate the same for yourself. This is something you need to do to make certain your eyes are opened wide to NOT starving yourself. You need to eat MORE than you are doing right now. You still have your mind wrapped around the concept of caloric restriction.
Dr. G. in his book 80/10/10 stresses this point and has the guidelines of base calories for women at 2000 per day. Then added to that is exercise, etc. So, anything under 2500 is not enough basically.
I'd love for you to shoot for 2200 per day and see how much better you are feeling. First off get it to 2000 next week for a solid week.
