30 Bananas a Day!

4th of July---Doing it rawesomely! (Pic of "Firework" Fruit Pie)

So, in the US today is 4th of July. I was laughing this morning to my husband saying "let's run to the store and get donuts and coffee and cinnamon rolls...." He laughed and said "I'll go whip you up a smoothie". But this had been our previous routine on holidays. So SAD-in both senses!!

I love eating clean. I feel so much happier and healthier. We went out for lunch today and I stared at the menu....NOTHING SOUNDED EVEN REMOTELY GOOD. I couldn't believe it. In less than a month I don't want soda, burgers, fries...I WANTED the salad. And the fruit bowl. and then maybe another fruit bowl:)

Another great thing that I did today was run our neighborhood 5k. I am out of shape (only been running for 3 weeks). And I finished. That was my goal...to finish, hills and all. I came in last place but I know if I keep it up I will eventually lower my time. I also know I'll move a lot faster when I am down 50lbs fat and up my muscles!!  It was hard to look at the pictures and see how out of shape I am...but I have confidence in what I am doing about it! I have confidence in this lifestyle!

I love riding a bike---I hopped on and did an easy 17 miles around our beautiful lakes here in Madison, WI. It came so easy and naturally that it made me crave the days when I would ride 100 miles or more. I can't wait to get back to that version of myself only even healthier!!!

Also, we ate great all day and for dessert I have made this delicious fruit pie. A date and very small amount of almond crust and the filling is banana, strawberries and the decorations on top are blueberries and bits of apple. My husband and I plan on cutting it in half and eating after the kids go to sleep! Can't wait for that.

This was yet another holiday without grilling, crap desserts, and I am so happy.
