So...now I'm up to 3 weeks being 100% raw! I'm starting to notice some wonderful changes. My digestion is still PERFECT! For me, this is great (I suffer from IBS). I went from having a BM maybe 3 times a week to at least once a day!!! My face is looking more vibrant than before, and my runs are getting faster. I was eating around 1500 calories a day, now I am able to hold 2000. Not there yet, but getting there. I can honestly say I have not craved cooked foods at all. There are occasions where I want something different, but not cooked. To satisfy that, I put some zucchini in a spiralizer, and blended some sun dried tomatoes (with soaking water) and some walnuts to pour over (YUM). This satisfied me!
Problems: The second week, I was feeling a bit down and depressed, but that has since passed. I'm guessing detox. Now I have another problem; I am SO full of energy that I cannot go to sleep at night. I lie awake at least 2 hours. I sleep very well once I'm asleep, but I just have a problem falling asleep. Maybe not enough calories still? At least I go to bed with the kids: 8:30!
I know a lot of people ask about kids, and what to do about their eating habits. I thought I would briefly share my routine with my kids. Before going HCRV, I was a vegetarian for 8 or 9 years. I have always tried to live a healthy life. I never forced anything on my kids, but rather I try to do my best to live by example. I cooked healthy vegetarian meals at home (and still do for them), but if we went out and they wanted meat, I didn't object. By the way, they often order vegetarian...so proud! Anyway, my 10 year old confessed to me over a week ago that she wanted to be vegan, and she has been for over a week now. Again, so proud! Now, I don't really mind if she wants to be raw, but I will have to add more gourmet for her, higher cal and fat. She is the type to eat one banana and be extremely full. And, a bit of history...she has cystic fibrosis. I don't know how her doctor will react to the vegan news! He already made a big deal about the vegetarian idea. She needs meat...cheeseburgers, milk shakes and blah blah blah. I've been through plenty of arguments with him over that! I told him she can eat high calorie fruits and veggies, plus nuts and seeds. By the way, she has gained 5 pounds since her last hospital stay! What was that doctor?! Anyway, this has been one more positive since I went raw...and...my 4 year old has been "stealing" fruit off of my plate. This is great because she is PICKY!
Lastly, because I know everyone likes weight loss info, I have lost 4 lbs since going HCRV. My weight isn't a huge concern for me, but I'm happy about my progress. I could stay the same on the scale and it would not bother me as long as I tone up a bit. I consider myself of average weight, especially having 4 kids. BUT..I promised myself at 6 months, I would post some pics!
