OTHER THOUGHTS -
After work, I went to the beach again today. The water's not getting any warmer, not surprising really since it's almost winter.
After my brief swim, standing in the sun was picturesque. Warm rays of light, bouncing off the waves as they crashed gently on the shore. Young couples walking along the jetty, hand in hand. Families taking photos of themselves with the wondrous coastline in the background.
I remembered how on Friday I had company to share the beauty with and longed for that again (not necessarily the same company, just company in general).
It seems I manifested someone, as on my way back to the cafe, I stopped, of course, for a swing and along comes a young boy with his grandfather and their dog. I start swinging, back and forth, gaining speed and height, but the young boy got on the swing and couldn't really get anywhere, fussing his legs about, he almost fell off trying to get the swing going. "Poppy, poppy! Can you please push me," the young boy yells out to his grandfather who hasn't quite caught up to his runaway grandchild.
It reminded me of a saying I thought of a few days ago.
An exciting life is like swinging, sometimes you just need a little push to make it worth it.
In this young boys case he needed a few big pushes, but to him is was absolutely worth it.
I was encouraging him the whole time and also making sure, "are you holding on tight?" "Yes, I'm holding on as tight as I can," he would reply. We were both swinging higher and higher and making all sorts of excited noises, "Weeee, woahhhh, wooohoooo!" followed by, "this is so much fun!"
"What's your name?" the little boy asks. "Janna, what's your name?" "Noah."
"How's your life been Janna?" the most straight forward question comes from Noah's curious mind. "Really awesome!" I exclaim with a grin from ear to ear. I'm amazed and touched at the simplicity of Noah's question and yet how profound a question it can be and I still can't wipe the smile from my face. "How's yours been?" I ask. "Really great...." Noah went on to tell me about how he was born in Coffs and is now in Kindy (kindergarten) and he is almost 7. We had a good old conversation whilst swinging and Noah couldn't quite understand why I didn't go to school, because there are "people my height there all the time."
After we had both finished swinging, I got on my bike and said goodbye. "It was lovely meeting you Noah and Pop. Maybe I will see you here again another time." "Yeah, see you soon, Janna." Noah sounded sure we would meet again.
Now back at the cafe, having my smoothie, I'm still so amazed at life's little ways of refocusing our attention on what matters. How has my life been, besides really awesome?! Well, it's been one never-ending adventure and that's what I love about it. So many lessons learnt and still to learn. So many pages filled with ideas, stories and lots of emotion - I am a pisces after all ;)
What matters most is that I'm enjoying it all. Even while I'm still here at the cafe, waiting and waiting for the sale to go through, getting more and more frustrated everyday, having to serve SAD food to an unhealthy, stressed, desperate to get through their day, addicted, brainwashed group of people. Yes, I do my best to promote the vegan choices I have here, but as much as I try, most will still choose the crap :(
In the end, in the in-between, in the process, I will give myself a push (and thanks to Jules for a little extra push) to make this life exciting, adventurous and worth it!
So now I gotta ask, "How's your life been?!"
