30 Bananas a Day!

It's day 6 I guess... but I failed again.
Besides 3 (!!) peaches and a bit of a watermelon we have absolutely no more ripe fruit at home. I am really going crazy. I am not able to buy enough fruit - either it takes too long to get ripe, or my boyfriend eats half of it (together with his normal meals) or I have not the (psychological) strength/motivation to go to the supermarket and buy more (it's far away and so absolutely hot out there that I would melt away). I am really frustrated today.
I will read 801010 tonight to get new motivation. The bunch of bananas I bought yesterday on the market .. it was a joke! I asked if there were any bananas left and the lady told "yes, but they are super ripe" and I was like "awesome" and wanted to use them for my smoothie etc. Well, I took them (about 7 bananas for 1 euro), went home and took a closer look - they were absolutley hard and unripe, just have dark (laarge) spots because they were transported badly.
Okay, what else.. tomatoes, cucumber and snack tomatoes are here. Besides that: ONLY cooked stuff. I will go to the supermarket (which is close by but has only 2, 3 sorts of fruits + is more expensive) later on if the stores open again and buy some lettuce, so that I can make a salad tonight. And I really have to think about other possibilities to buy more fruit. I spent about 11 euros today for the watermelon, 2 kilos of nectarines (that are not ripe), tomatoes and cucumber. As a student I really cannot afford that.

So, this had to be told. Don't know what to do. Frustrated.

Hey Lisa, thanks for your comment! Raisins? Hmm, the last time I ate them I really don't like them. I love dried figs though. And mangos... where can you buy dried mangos? Ah well maybe I can have a look at the moroccan market, they have all kind of dried fruits there!

DR mentioned in one of his recent youtubes that he will resort to dried fruit when necessary:  raisins and dried mango.

I have some nice organic raisins on hand for back-up.  I can't find dried mango that isn't preserved with sulfur and sugar.

Hey Tracy,

thanks for your lovely comment :-)And a big yes to the learning curve! Also had to learn that oranges are simply not tasty here right now and that the food in spain gets bad more early than in germany+the netherlands (probably because it is not so strongly treated with chemicals and/or genetically modified?)

Thanks again + date up! :)

After a huge salad I'm back on track and also figured out what a great disturbing factor of today was: Not enough sleep! It's so warm here that I find it difficult to sleep enough, but tomorrow I won't stress with what I have to do and just stay in bed as long as I want and then start the day with watermelon or with a banana-smoothie (my boyfriend bought some ripe bananas for me at the local store, yeah)

I've been at this for about two months and although I'm a totally experienced cook and foodie type person, and pride myself on food-managing my kitchen, I have alot of trouble getting the right amount of ripe fruit for this 811 lifestyle. I get totally thrown off if a batch of fruit I've bought turns out bad (which happens more often than I thought it would).  I'm gradually learning the rhythm of this -- -and I'm not totally strapped for cash like a student would be and I'm lucky to live in an area with lots of cheap good fruit located in markets that are totally convenient for me.  Dates are totally  necessary for a fallback in my book. Hang in there.  I think we're on a learning curve.
