30 Bananas a Day!

Freelee's challenge: 1 year of doing the whole shebang--diet, exercise, water, sleep, etc.  Stop worrying about weight gain and the momentary ups and downs of detox.  Just do it!

Exercise

1 hr. 15 min. brisk walk

2 hrs. gardening

Food

Meal 1: 96 oz. o.j.

Meal 2: 12 med. bananas, sliced, 1 C. raspberries, 1 C. blueberries

Meal 3: Salad dressing (2 C. strawberries, 3 Roma tomatoes, 1/2 red pepper, handful cilantro, blended), 8 C. butter lettuce from my garden, rice dish (brown rice, stewed tomatoes, broccoli, red and yellow peppers, mushrooms,  tomato paste, Herdez salsa, natural peanut butter)

3966 cal.  86/8/6 C/F/P, 1794 mg. sodium

Water

16 cups/ 128 oz.

Sleep

Slept o.k. from 10:30-8.  Woken multiple times by itching.  I even iced my chest several to try to stop scratching, since scratching is making it worse.

Today's Pleasures

Taking a nice walk with my girls, feeding horses, and seeing foals

Bananas 'n berries

Pulling weeds is so easy after some rain

That salad dressing recipe is super-yummy!

Detox

Itchy rash in various spots on my chest, stomach, arms, and legs

White coating on my tongue

Swollen, dark under-eye circles in the morning

Some gas

Minor redness and bumpiness on forehead, nose and chin

Stress level

Low

Daily Thoughts

I tend to be very prone to inflammation.  I swell up badly with insect bites.  I was looking for home remedies online since I'm going insane and one of them is to rub the inside of a banana peel on the itch.  So, I'm going to try that and report back.

Today is day 90.  I'm a little worn down from this detox, so maybe you guys can bring the celebration to me and remind me that this is worth it.  I guess honestly, I just feel at a loss to why I don't seem to get over this hump of ditching the cooked dinners, especially when I have extra motivation to do it.

I have a whole butternut squash. Do you need any herbs to jazz it up? Or do you just bake it and eat it...

Another good alternative to the brown rice (besides sweet potatoes) is steamed or baked winter squash.  They are super tasty on their own and are botanically a fruit.  Red kuri, delicata, kabocha and butternut are a few examples.  If you bake them you can throw the whole squash in the oven.  They are truly a time saver ...

P.S. The link below is acting a little weird. Copy the whole link, (sauce) part too <3

Hey lady! Don't feel down! You are one-quarter into your whole year challenge! That's something to celebrate!! :D

I looked up the Herdez salsa online, and I was wondering if that may be attributing to your rash. I know that I get little bumps/rashes when I eat lots of interesting condiments, preservatives, and refined sugar. Same with the peanut butter and nuts. Being that you want to transition to a healthier cooked option, why not try making your own salsa at home? Dice or finely chop up some tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, onions, and cilantro and marinate them in lemon, apple cider vinegar or your choice of marinade. Sprinkle some celery salt to reduce sodium content (the sodium content in the herdez salsa is pretty high, too and that may be causing inflammation, as well!). You can also make your own guacamole, as well as other dressings. Isn't this exciting?! The world is yours <3

Also, I would advise to stay away from the brown rice, too, unless if needed. I don't feel so hot after brown rice, and maybe leaving it out will help you! I am a BIG fan of sweet potatoes, yam, and cassava. I LOVEEEEE baked sweet potato and cassava. Have you tried plantain or sweet plantain? That is amazing. How about mashed sweet plantains for dinner topped with veggies or oil-free Cuban mojo sauce sprinkled with a little salt? It is a fruit, after all ;) And if you can do it without salt, even better! Make use of herbs; they are so yummy! Do you get my drift? :)

No oil or salt needed!

Oh, and yes, I would advise making a small smoothie before dinner, too! That made me too full to eat the cooked stuff, and I felt totally satiated and happy. Have you tried Kristina Carillo's raw dinner recipes? That may help you transition to raw dinners <3 Hope this helped!

You are doing great, no need to be sad.  Work on enjoying where you are.  The more you try to resist what you don't want, the more you attract it.  Maybe try sweet potatoes instead of rice?  That will keep out the stuff like the canned salsa and the peanut butter since they taste good on their own.  Another thing to try is eating sub-acid fruit before your cooked meal.  You can just start slowly with a single peach or something, and you'll find yourself slowly ramping it up to more without really trying.  I used to drink a small smoothie before having a cooked meal and that really helped eventually transition to just eating raw for dinner and feeling very satisfied.  Remember, it is a journey, you are on your way and are just where you need to be right now :o)  You have our support! *HUGS*

That salad dressing does sound good! Maybe you could try adding some dates to your evening salad to help get more cals without the cooked dinner.
But don't beat on yourself, you are doing so great!!
I wonder if stress is playing any part in your rash not healing up? Maybe while you are out gardening sometime, you could stop for a minute and just sit there and let nature sooth you. I know it sounds silly, but God/the universe works in mysterious ways ;)
And like Lala said, you are inspiring us all daily, so keep smiling gorgeous!!
xoxo

Aw man GM -- you sound kinda sad! Don't worry about the dinners. You are doing awesome. You are living a high raw lifestyle! You eat breakfast lunch and snacks all raw. And when you do have cooked dinners they are always vegan and very fresh. You aren't falling prone to terrible SAD food. I think you should applaud yourself! Not to mention you help others on this site with your experience. Just take one day at a time. Say today I will be raw. And make it an early night. If you can do it GREAT, if not...there's tommorow. You are still doing your body good by eating many raw foods. I hope the detox passes soon, that rash sounds quite annoying.
