30 Bananas a Day!

What is the best thing to eat during my cycle?

Hey guys, this is my second blog, second day here...so far I'm loving it. :)

Today I suffered with the worst cramps I've had in a while. Unfortunately I even puked... I take pills [naproxin or regular pain killers] but I hate having to rely on them and they take forever to kick in. Normally I have ginger tea, but I'm all out.

Does anyone know some of the best things I can eat before and during my cycle?

ps. Food hardly ever stays down when I eat before it shows up so I tend to keep it on a low amount or none at all. So I'm usually too weak to do anything...even walk. ...However, if I do eat and I dont puke...the feeling like I'm going to is practically there whole time.

sos.

Oh my gosh I thought my periods were bad! They are still heavy but the PMS and pains are much better on this lifestyle. Every month (I am 5 months almost 100% raw) they get easier. If I were you I would go on banana island. I started today. I want to speed up the healing process and rid my body of unhealthy salt and the success of reversing conditions eating one fruit only seems to be the fastest. If not that, I would really aim at doing 811 as perfect as possible, carb up with extra cals before and water only until I could hold some food down. Good luck :)

The great thing is that after you have followed this diet for awhile, you will no heal from these problems with your cycle and not have to worry about them ever again.  Hugs and feel better!

In acute illness, water only fasting can be very helpful!  No more than 3 days unsupervised is what most experts recommend.  It sounds like you can't eat anyway and aren't digesting what you have managed to eat and have to lay down anyway.  So if it were me, this is what I would do, water fast and bed rest.  I would also prepare by eating extra calories for at least 3 days before my period and also be sure and eat extra calories after my period and/or pain is gone.  I would experiment with overts, sometimes they can bring heavier periods but going without them can bring on deeper detox.

Maybe to keep your hopes up... after two months of being raw my cramps were completely GONE and periods significantly lighter. :)
As for now, just don't eat any overt fats before/during your period I'd say.

I like your blog style btw, with the highlighted words and such. :)

I juiced anywhere from 32 to 48 oz. of spinach or kale, carrot, parsley, apple juice on top of getting at least 2500 calories from almost entire fruit during that week.  I've never had good results just juicing for meals, and agree with 30BAD's views on it as concerns one's main source of nutrition/meal menu.

I used to be that way, and I took the perspective that my body was doing what it "needed" to do when it would get worse right before a period (and have heavier periods). I cut out all overts, made sure I ate a lil' bit more than usual (like 300-500 calories more), AND I juiced/ate a lot more greens. I really credit the greens for pushing my body through this barrier/hormone imbalance it seemed to be in. I had two days of really heaving bleeding and cramping, but I stuck through it and my cycles have been so easy ever since.

*hugs* I hope you're feeling better soon! I'm not much help for you at the moment, I have no good advice other than to rest, which it sounds like you have to do anyway. But I wanted to let you know that my periods have been heaps easier to deal with since going HCRV and you'll find a lot of other women say the same thing! So just hang in there, stay on this fruity path and things will get better!

Hi there ! I have big cycles to and not always nice and easy. I use extra rest, deep breathing and sometimes parsley herbal tea made with a big bunch of fresh parsley in boiling water for a few minutes. I am not sure this is going to be ok for this forum and not sure it would help but at least it is natural and it helps most of the time. Good luck to you, hoping you will get better soon.
