30 Bananas a Day!

I was an exercise addict and now I hate exercising...help!

Hello friends,

So, I use to be addicted to exercising/overexercising. I eventually burned out and I have taken a hiatus from exercising because I started hating it. I also had an eating disorder during my over exercising period. As a part of my recovery  I stopped exercising and ate a lot and gained weight.

Now I  know that to make this lifestyle work you must exercise. I am nervous to get started and what will be simple, short, exercised to incorporate into my life without over doing it.

I just want to know what is "normal" to for exercise to make this work. I see that a lot of people Run and Bike many many miles and that scares me. It scares me that I need to exercise that hard to live this way and to maintain a thin/healthy body.

I walked today 30 minutes at lunch....I dont know if that is enough?

Thank you for listening to my thoughts :)

Wow, your story is exactly mine! Altough now i have chronic fatigue and can´t exercise anyway.

I understand exactly that now, exercising means torture for you, because you used to do it to burn calories only. I think for people like us, it is more important to learn to feel good in our body, and to appreciate moving, than exercising, even if it´s healthy. So, in order to appreciate light exercise like walking, it is important that it is not hard, only a pleasure. Later, when you feel that you can "survive" even if you don´t exercise, you can slowly increase your exercise habits. That´s what I am trying to do for myself. Moving must become a pleasure, not a torture.

I have difficulties explaining myself but I know exactly how you feel.

Less exercise than on a SAD diet. Many people work their ass off to keep in shape on SAD and when they stop they blow up quickly in fat. Not so on low fat raw vegan diet long-term.

I would suggest you 30 min of HIIT! 3-4 times at week, it would keep you tone, healthy heart and smiling :)

Looks like DR has the perfect video for you today. Here he touches on the topic of exercise.

Most of the really successful HCRVers find physical activities they enjoy and focus on those. Some bike, some run, some do weights, some swim or play sports. Basically, if it's a chore, you're less likely to stick with it, but if it's something you love it won't even feel like exercising.

In reality, you don't need to exercise super hard on this lifestyle. Just move your body a little every day (take the stairs, walk or bike where you're going, play with friend/kids, etc.), but don't worry too much about really pushing yourself unless you're wanting to train for a certain event or something.

On HCRV you won't need to exercise really hard to "maintain a thing/healthy body"... you'll have a thin, healthy body even with minimal exercise. Exercising a little each day or every second day will help you thrive even more, but you'll be healthy even without going overboard with it.

Wow, your story is mine, lol!

I went vegan back in September 2011, after over training and having an anorexic mentality for months prior. I hurt my low back from training so much, which still nags me today. All I can say is to ease your way back into it. Go at a pace where your body (and mind) can adjust, learn to listen to your body's feedback mechanisms. If you absolutely dread what you're doing, it's probably the wrong to be doing.. Don't worry about what others are doing, because comparison is the greatest source of misery. Run your own race, live your own life.

Good luck and, for f*** sake, have fun! ;-)
