Fresh Dates in NYC!!!
Today is my 4th day as a 100% Raw Vegan (coming from a major junk food vegetarian lifestyle of 3.5 yrs). I was on my way home when I stumbled across this little organic deli. In front of the deli they had the usual fruits: plums, oranges, grapes, etc. Then, thankfully, my eyes just so happend to land on something I thought was never sold in NYC because...they never really are. I had finally met fresh dates for the first time in my life. When I realized I just glanced at not just dates but fresh dates, I got extremely excited. I have always....ALWAYS wanted to try fresh dates because, as a raw vegan, you hear they are all the rave (along with bananas however I'm mostly a mango person:mango maniac here). I have searched all over the internet to find out what it tastes like. Some sources have said it tastes like caramel. Others have said frosted flakes. Some have even mentioned cake. I have always wanted to taste fresh dates. Finally, my wish has been fulfilled. I bought a few and now I'm just waiting for them to ripen. Ahh, the agony of waiting. EEP! I'm so excited to try them. If you wanna know where I got them you can message me.
My 100% Raw Vegan progress - Day 4
Before I mention any changes, differences, improvements or lack of, I would just like to mention my illnesses prior to starting. I have stuggled with (junk) food addiction for about a year and a half so far; Binge eating/bulimia accompanied this. I was always craving the worst food ever: ice cream, chocolate cake, mac&cheese, pizza, indian food, etc. ; Because of this I was always suffering with fighting these cravings. However, I usually ended up giving into them because I have very little will power unfortunately. I had/have constipation, slow bowel transit time, bloating, slight acne like skin, fatigue, body odor, insomnia, and most of all brain fog. I hardly get any physical activity. Unfortunately, I am sitting down for most of my day. I drink lots of water (avg. 2-4Liters a day). Now I will tell you how my Day 4 was. Today I recieved about 5% mental clarity. Around 2 o'clock, I started to get some extreme and painful bloating (which i still have whilst I type this). I got some exercise today. Drank around 3 Liters of water. There was no sun today. I had a banana for breakfast (I know, some of you might say whoa, you need to eat more for calories but I have been slightly bloated/feeling full for the past few days, I get full real easily, and I'm just listening to what Dr. Doug Graham said which is, I quote, "Eat as much as you care for"). For luch I had a gala apple, when i got home I had a not so great white peach and then ate another banana. These past few days, I have been suffering the worst insomnia EVAR!!! It has taken me close to 3 hrs to fall asleep these past few nights (and i'm going to bed really early: 8:30pm-10:00pm). This has left me so tired in the morning wanting to sleep for longer than the time I have to get up for school. I hate to end this abruptly but that is my progress so far.
