❄ ❄ Food Combining Tricks For Optimal Digestion ❄ ❄
To help myself and others remember how to combine our fruits (and High Carb, Low Fat cooked if you're doing that), I wrote a song.
Kind of a goofy song medley as a master of disguises! I had a ton of fun doing it!
Hope you enjoy!

I was a dancer in my younger years through adult years.
By age 18, I was diagnosed with pre-arthritis in my knees.
✿ I was living on fast food, canned foods, processed foods, doughnuts, etc. The dancing probably helped me keep the weight down, but lots of exercise did NOT keep…Continue

How does a raw vegan deal with taking their food to work?
✿ If you’re gone from 8am in the morning (or earlier) until 6 pm or later… What do you do?
✿ I have over an hour commute each way to work, taking buses and trains.
So I tried 4 different things. Let’s see what…Continue

Food Combining is probably one of the least talked about topics in the raw food movement. Although it doesn't get much attention, its importance is paramount for your success on a fruit-based diet. Even if you eat tons of fruit, you can suffer from terrible digestion. Fruit does digest really well by itself, but when you start to combine multiple kinds of different fruit, you can get yourself into quite a bit of trouble. For this reason, I have made the…Continue
I felt like posting a food diary, I dunno.
Breakfast Part One: Two large pears
Breakfast Part Two: An Entire Pineapple (So Delicious :) )
Lunch: 6 Banana Smoothie
Dinner: 64 oz Green Smoothie - Spinach, Orange, Broccoli, Banana, Pineapple, Mango, Green Apple
Snack: 36 deglet noor dates, and for my daily source of fat, (I feel my best when I consume overt fats on a regular basis) 2 tbsp of homemade, all natural peanut butter.
This all came to a total…Continue

I've been hearing a lot about buckwheat groats lately. I've done some research and learned that they are raw, vegan, not related to wheat, not a grain and are gluten-free. Buckwheat groats come from the seed of a flowering plant, are low in fat and treated as a CARB!
So I thought why not give them a try. My recipe wheel started rolling and I came up with these raw vegan buckwheat porridge. They keep me full and I really enjoy them. They work well for me but not for…Continue
Probably the most difficult thing about this lifestyle is how drastically different my social life has become.
I used to love going out and meeting up with friends to eat and drink out in town.
The first few weeks of eating 80/10/10 i was terrified to eat out - let alone eat out of the comfort of my own house. It sucked and put a bit of strain on my relationship with my boyfriend, who owns his own food truck business selling pulled pork. He loved cooking for me and it always pulls…
So I have had to take this week off work due to stress & recurrence of depression.
I felt awful all last week. Had manic moments where my heart was racing because work was so busy - I couldn't cope at all. I felt so sad, and just completely numb to things.
I managed to do my workouts most nights, which really helped, but it actually comparatively feels much worse now when I am not exercising, like I am crashing after the adrenaline rush.
I was quite manic on Saturday…Continue
So, yea, just wanted to talk a bit about my feelings of close friends/family and their reactions to my diet etc.
I stayed at my folks at the weekend, and my Mum was really quizzing me up on my diet, and exactly how much & what I eat etc. I was happy to talk about it, and obviously I feel great eating this way, so was promoting it quite well!
But I got kind of sad when she was saying stuff like "hhmmm but it takes a lot of planning... I couldn't do it... it would be too much…Continue
When my band was planning on going on tour for a month overseas, I was immediately concerned with one pressing question: how will I continue to eat 80/10/10---especially without really any opportunity to exercise? This, combined with the fact that my health was declining was a difficult question to answer. I discussed it with my bandmates and was met with great resistance. I was told that they would not be very accommodating to this lifestyle---which I understood and in an effort to…Continue
My acne will go down on my face if I don't touch it, but my chest looks so gross. I feel shy and gross a lot because of it and tend to cover up my chest area. But as it gets closer to summer, the more I want to wear lighter tops. The thing is, I have been raw for a while now. Fully raw most days. (having mostly fruit and veggies and pratically no nuts!)
WHAT DO I DO!!!
Since my lifestyle has changed when I went LFRV, I feel like there is something of the universe trying to arrange something for me, or at least make signs to guide me further into my life's purpose in this existence. I wonder if anyone else feels the same with their own experiences? I feel the movement for fresh, organic, raw, locally produced food is on the uprise in my community. A friend's sister just went vegan recently, and told me this was her third month strong. The news made me…Continue
More of a personal blog!
I just wanted to document the changes that have happened since eating more raw foods. I used to always get cramps several days before coming on, but now I only get them 30 mins before my first bleed! I do still feel crappy when I have just started, but not near as much as I did when I was eating meat. I also have WAY more energy today than I normally do. Last month, as I was on holiday in Spain whilst I was on, I pretty much ate beans or cooked veggies with…Continue
Going through some really difficult weight gain. I'm at a weight I haven't reached in such a long time and it's devastating. This isn't water weight, this is fat. I can tell the difference and FEEL the difference, especially in my clothing.
I'm really considering putting raw food on a hold. Apparently it doesn't work for me at all. And when I say raw food, I don't even take medicine if I have a headache or use imitation vanilla flavoring to avoid alcohol. I've gained 20 pounds on raw…Continue

Seriously, nothing is worse than walking around with this 8-month pregnancy look. I've actually come up with a number I'm going to tell people when they ask "So how far along are you?" *points at my tummy*
The bloating is a combination of introducing my body to purely raw foods, and well, bulimia bloat. My body was STARVING and I was injuring myself immensely. So all the toxins, all the abuse, has taken its hold and I've got one heck of a melon…Continue
For those that don't know I was raw vegan, cooked vegan of vegetarian most of my adult lie (now in my 40's) but the last yr because of a series of events, 2 celiacs diagnosed in my immediate family (son and hubby) we all went paleo. That was hard. I really started getting into it but...well...I'll skip the story but, I love my veggie roots.
This is day 10 of 8-1-1, and increasing raw that started around 75% and am now about 95%. Workouts have been better. More endurance and…Continue
Something clicked in me last week, that I was fighting all of these bad habits: late nights, cooked vegan asian food, negative self talk. I was resisting all of them very hard. After some emotional things happened I was able to accept it all and let it go. This week it's been so much easier than usual to stay all raw. I had a couple of cravings, but no kinds of major "OMG I GOTTA HAVE VIETNAMESE FOODZ NAOW!!" type cravings.
I've been eating a lot of fruit during the day…Continue
