The Lies of Footwear Companies and the truth of Barefoot running

Just thought I would add this article I am most probably preaching to the converted but it good info to pass on when people tell you s*** they don’t really know

During barefoot running, the ball of the foot strikes the ground first and immediately starts sending signals to the spinal cord and brain about the magnitude of impact and shear, getting most of its clues about this from the skin contact with the surface irregularities of the ground.

Take away this contact by… Continue

What's In Your Frig?

There are certain things I never keep in the frig because I don't like the altered taste. Tomatoes are one of them. If they get really soft sitting out on the counter I just make them into soup. I only keep the following in the refrigerator: celery, lettuce, carrots, cabbage, berries, cut melon, spinach, cucumber, and very ripe avocados. Everything else sits on the counter. I have heard some say that they even keep their carrots and celery out in jars of water. You would probably have to change… Continue

It's been a while...

I'm back. I had to sort out a lot of things before I could write a new, interesting blog post.

First things first:

I'm moving out. That's right, I'm getting a flat on my own. Total freedom, I couldn't be more exited.

Second:

I'm going to start a new job training. As a cook. Yeah, I know how that sounds on a raw vegan network, thank you very much:). Before you ask, no it is not a vegan nor a vegetarian restaurant. Its speciality is deer and all of Bambi's other… Continue

Day 217, 100% Fruitarian.

Monday, Day 217, 100% Fruitarian. Bit of a disaster today. Bad accident on the basketball court left my left knee grapefruit-size swollen. i had been having a tremendous workout day prior to that. i had just decided to get back into one-leg squats. Now that is all on hold for at least the next two weeks. At least i can focus on the chins/pushups/presses/dips still. Those require no legs and i need to do that anyways. i decided that i'd like to do at least 1000 pushups per week. This may sound… Continue

Grocery Shopping

I love my new running shoes. My old ones were 14 years old! Don't worry, I only used them for about one year and they sat in my closet the rest of the time. It felt great to not be wearing boxes on my feet as I ran.

Today I went on a typical shopping trip. This food should last me about 5-7 days. Dan will eat some of it, but I will eat most of it. Just in case you're curious:

2 seedless watermelons

1 organic honeydew melon

2 mangoes

8 ears of corn

2… Continue

I just really want to do this

To be free of anything that drops your energy.

I'd like to be balanced the whole way through.

How can one be balanced when in a detoxing state?

You'll just notice you have more energy available to you to do as you like.

More detox=More availability

I'll take the time out to walk or jog outside in the wee early morning hours (sunrise), when it is cooler and lovely...

I'll fast again after a little bit of proper eating where I feel like… Continue

Day 24 Exercise

I havent been exercising every day like I have planned nor have I been getting sleep lately since my grams stroke. I try to atleast get in around 100 pushups everyday (not 350 like I was planning on for this week). Its tough when your getting around 4 hours of sleep at night from juggling work and spending time with her.

So I have devised a new plan. The mass amount of pushups have given me a lot of results within the last 24 days. I am more defined than I was before and feel better… Continue

Weekend Review of Days 215 & 216, 100% Fruitarian. The weekend was good. i ate well (although alas, no durian), i had a good workout on sunday but didn't play any basketball. i decided to just lounge. As far as the workout i did a medley of chins, pushups, dips and tricep presses on sunday for 4 sets. Ended up doing 48 chins, 120 pushups, 38 dips and 40 tricep presses. That was a nice workout. i have been taking it easy on my legs over the last couple of weeks but i would like to get back… Continue

Which is It?

Fat?? Not enough calories?? The last six holes of golf today I felt like falling asleep. I don't know if I had too much fat in the guacamole yesterday or not enough calories for lunch. My big idea today was to eat greens at lunch in a soup so that I could eat a smaller salad with less dressing on it for dinner and make up for the extra fat I had at dinner yesterday. But today dinner came and I still wanted a big salad. And the soup was not very good and probably not enough calories to get me… Continue

Sunny Summer Low Fat Sunday

I've been MIA a few days b/c I have been crazy busy.

I am jumping over hurdles of fear and leaping into the abyss trusting in the universe that all will be provided for and taken care of.

I applied for an amazing job working with inner-city youth. It will be so amazing........ I am totally seeing myself getting it. I did so well in the interview and was very authentic and real. Nothing but good can come from… Continue

Day 100

I dared myself to walk up on the scale. 127 lbs. I'm 5'5" if I haven't mentioned that before. I haven't weighed myself in weeks and weeks and I've only lost a pound. Oh well, I trust my body. I hope that losing the weight slowly means that it will stay off. At my highest weight I was 139 lbs. So 12 pounds lost I suppose. However, by the end of summer I would like to be around the 122 region so I'm going to go on a diet of sorts. Well, more just like 9/5/5 and no dates. Should make me feel good… Continue

Doing the Right Thing

I can't believe I am finally able to do the 80-10-10 thing right for the most part. At first I just could not eat only fruit until dinner. I had to have a salad for lunch. Now, I don't even want a salad until dinner.

What has helped the most? I think it is eating large meals and very very little snacking. So I don't have a sweet taste in my mouth all day. I eat a juicy fruit breakfast and don't eat again until lunch. Exercise helps with this. By noon, I then feel like having some… Continue

Time to move on

(Taken from a comment I just left James)

Thankfully, my grandma recognizes every one of us- 100%. It's so beautiful when we come into her hospital room (while shes awake), walk up to her, and put your hand on her head and say hello she gets the biggest smile. We will ask her if she knows who we are and she will nod our head, and sometimes say yes. Then we say I love you to her and everyonce in a while when she has enough energy she will give it back to us- her best attempt to atleast. Its… Continue

Calling on all of you 80/10/10ers here for help!

So I am calling on all of you 80/10/10ers here for help. I have been following the 80/10/10 now for 11 days transitioning from high fat raw vegan....I feel great so far, but, I have noticed that veggies are less and less appealing to me and fruit is all I want. I drink green juice in the morning so that I make sure I have that good chlorophyll in my system, but do you think it is okay to just eat fruit the rest of the day? Also, I am really trying to lose weight as well and I have found that I… Continue

Fallen flat but ready to pick myself up, dust off and get going.

Hi everyone.

I looked back at my blog posts in horror. No activity since May. OK, he's the scoop. I've been away OS and having a great time with a bunch of friends. That's a whole story in itself. What is of more interest is how I handled my eating and what has transpired since. I'll write this up over the next few days as I do the 'autopsy'. Needless to say, my foray into the raw vegan world didn't go according to plan whilst travelling. It took a hammering in the company of others and… Continue

Sunny Days

It feels sooooo good to be back In Colorado. Washington was beautiful, but Colorado is always sunny in July and I love it! Luckily, the day we went to Pike Place Market in Seattle was gorgeous. And boy did I get lucky. Yep, if you haven't guessed, it was Organic Wednesday! It takes so little to please me these days. I chowed down on cherries, plums, heirloom cherry tomatoes (amazingly sweet), an avocado, and fresh fresh corn. My sisters and I also had a great time visiting with my mom in… Continue

Day 213, 100% Fruitarian.

Thursday, Day 213, 100% Fruitarian. Its been 7 months now. Overall, this journey has been among the greatest blessings of my life. Not always easy, but always very rewarding. i know there is still much more to learn, to grow into and to experience. My weight is now 185lbs. It was 177lbs about 2 weeks ago (prior to my blunder with the salty olives). i am definitely much more muscular now than i was at the beginning of this journey. Why i ever left bodyweight exercises for free-weights is beyond… Continue

Eagle Flew Out Of The Night.

For the first time in weeks, I ate nothing but fruit yesterday. I probably got less calories than I needed, considering how much I exercised... BUT my influential friend got his chinese take out and I ate a 12 banana smoothie.

Bananas are my friends. And now they're ripe. Yay!

I already feel the difference. The 'morning after' seems to be a good timeframe to look to the body for a reflection of the foods eaten the day before and their effects upon the body.

My… Continue

Day Three: Naughty Banana Island

Day three and I did the naughty. Today my mom was eating LFRV as part of a deal, and as I was cutting up her mango for a mango + tomato dressing... I scraped a bit of meat off the mango skin with my teeth. Oh my god, I can't believe I gave into temptation like that... I am weak! But, I won't let it get to me. Good news, my mom ISN'T DRINKING COFFEE TOMORROW. How cool is that? I told her it would be so cool to see how long she could go without it. Baby steps, ma, baby steps.

I had like… Continue
