100 days raw no overts - day 9

Howdy! Another day put away! This is a breeze, I'm even back at work and this is a breeze. Mind you, I am avoiding all social situations involving food at the moment other than with people who I know will only be 100% supportive of my lifestyle. I Lost tennis again today.... my raw vegan powers will come to the fore soon and get me some winnings surely. My energy is increasing. Have done some yoga, walking, tennis, cycling and itching to do more. My skin is getting silky smooth and I am…

Big oops

So after posting that things were going just fine yesterday i did some baking with the kids for a thank you for someone else and it failed. I ended up with delicious half cooked brownie. Yum. I then proceeded to eat half the un-cooked brownie then spiraling out of control managed to add nachos for tea since everyone else was eating them and then the 2 left over buzz bars in the fridge. Like i said. big oops!!

I had a small slice of brownie this morning before i even put bfast…

Tell Loblaws to stop selling Live Lobsters!

Lobsters are kept in water tanks in stores, with their pincers tied, no space to move and in most cases - not being fed. They are stressed from confinement, lack of oxygen and overcrowding. Lobsters are not sea vegetables, they have brains and feel pain.

Destiny of these lobsters - to be boiled alive.

Lobster nervous system is not like ours, they don't loose consciousness when they feel extreme and severe pain. It means that lobsters feel when they…

Getting clean - food makes me sick, literally!

Its amazing what the 811 lifestyle does to the body. Im new, i´ve only been doing this since november 17th last year.

WHY?

I was sick, for 3 months, it turned out it was from fungus under the floor of my old place .. i moved out and got better, but i never turned back from raw vegan.

Before i got into raw i was a meat eater, i was training for fitness and ate a lot of chicken, i also ate beans for protein, lots of dairy products for protein, canned tuna and eggs.

I…

Day 12

Woke up around 7:30 today.  Amazing how much better I feel NOT eating the beans.  Something about beans really represents comfort--they are heavy and salty and fill my belly.  And yet they make me soooooo sick that the morning after I  always think, "Why did I eat those?"

Today I started Week 4 of the Couch to 5K running plan. I was wearing my shoes because of the cold and snow, and had to be careful about hidden ice.  It was a bit of a challenge, the extra minute of…

100 days raw no overts - day 8

Hey woke up this morning feeling awesome! I feel so alive ... and I have knocked over a week of this well, pretty easily really. I have lost 2 inches off my waist already and a total of 3.7kgs. My skin feels smooth and my outlook on life is heaps more positive. It's so hard to explain to people who have not tried raw just how good it makes you feel.....

Years ago in 1995 I did a juice feast. Well it was a juice diet back then as the term juice "feast" hadn't been invented yet. I…

Have you seen "How to Spot a Raw Foodist"

It's a pretty clever free file from Josh's www.raw-food-freedom.com

I'm pretty surprised at the level of scientific readings and writings there are there. There's actually a lot of unique info I didn't find elsewhere.

A couple SAD days

Two steps back, but walking foward again, I'm not looking back...

I truly believe that these set backs are only making me stronger, allowing me to see and live how I really want to.  Friends, I don't want you to think that I believe in using this forum to talk only about my set backs.  In fact, as time goes on, I hope only to talk about how I'm loving life and that my set backs will be replaced with victories.  But I know that set backs can be used for good, and they can make us…

Vegan Advocacy Blog--need website name ideas, anyone?

I am starting a new community based website for vegan advocates and I am having some difficulty in picking a name for the site. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The site will be a place where people can connect with others that to spread the benefits of a vegan and raw vegan lifestyle to the masses, collaborate on projects, and evaluate effectiveness.

Here are a few words which describe what the site will be about:

evolution, compassion,…

Grrr....ignorance is bliss kinda people really bug me!

I hate to step out of my positive nature and rant but I need to get this out!!! A friend of mine on Facebook posted that she loves the smell of her baby after she washes her with Johnston baby shampoo....ughhh...palm to face. Lol...I simply posted an article from CBS about how there are cancer causing chemicals in it and said..." so sorry to burst your bubble girl! No pun intended:) California baby is a great natural choice and smells even better:)"... She deleted me from her friend because of… Continue

Time - o - the month DRAMA!

I guess the title explains it all!

Today it was def harder to keep up with my energy needs. I made the mistake of enjoying a huge salad (with fruit in it!) at lunch. However, by the time I went to the gym...I totally crashed. I just ran out of energy...I'm guessing 1) My body needs more food during this month, as explained in Freelee's book 2) Salads should be enjoyed for dinner only?! 3) I had avocado in my salad...

I don't get it, on a vegetarian diet I could skip meals and…

my souls child

dances in circles

lifting earths colours

like sacred ribbons

swirling in the sky

a mix of light blue, green , purple & gold

happiness explodes in every breath drawn

i am dancing inward

my eylids are peeling back visions of our future

like fairie kisses

the tingle you feel on your cheek

your nose

your lips

when you are alone

it tickles & makes me giggle

like children playing hide and…

Today is the day to make dreams come true - Carpe Diem

I woke up  this morning in a little surf town in Nicaragua  and said "today I am going surfing."

I thought to myself "its taken 31 years to get to this day, that's a long time and a lot has happened."

My Grand parents were called "beach house nanna and poppy" they were sun-lovers who always lived by the sea, they would always fish and crab for food, loved tropical fruits and my nanna always…

Day 11

Since I went to bed late, I got up late, around 9 a.m.  It was nice and sunny today.  It is Saturday, when I go to the next town over to do the week's grocery shopping and other errands.  My daughters wanted to come with me to spend some of their allowance.  Both of them are going to birthday parties in the next week so they wanted to buy gifts.

In general, I don't enjoy the consumer pressure on my children.  I know, it is partly my fault because I send them to school.…

Sprouts??

I know that beans and grains generally aren't tolerated on the 811, but is it okay to eat sprouts?

Though fruit and leafs are the ideal, my dad can only afford so much fruit (you know, so he can make room for dairy, meat, and eggs---I'm the only vegan in my household :|).

I tried convincing him to just eat what I eat and he'll understand, but he won't give in. I see him eat maybe 3 servings of fruit per week and 2 servings of vegetables.

I try to eat at least 5…
