Lucia said… That's good :) How are you going? Still high carb vegan? I'm no longer high raw but plan to get more in. I'm very sensitive to pesticides used in conventional fruit and can't afford organic. Once my family gets the garden growing and I start attending garden swaps and collecting more wild edibles I should be able to get back on track. I'm just plain low-fat vegan at the moment.
Lucia said… Haha yea I was in your class, I was in year 5 then :) You might not remember me I was pretty quiet.. Remember when we went to the botanic gardens? That was the last time I went before I started going to raw vegan picnics there :D I hadn't been there in over 7 years, I forgot how much i loved it.
Lucia said… Haha yea I know what it's like trying to get fruit in those sorts of areas, I lived In Coober Pedy for a long time and fruit was hell expensive. Rice, potatoes etc are great when fruit's not an option :) I think I was in you class once or twice in primary school. Whose classes were you in from grade 3 to 5? I may have been in your class with ms Draper, possibly? I can't remember :S
Lucia said… Yea the first few weeks i was eating a lot of almonds as well and was wondering why I still felt so sluggish, I thought the amount I was eating wasn't that much at all but most LFRV info states otherwise lol I haven't been eating any other fat sources but greens lately because I know raw nuts aren't good for my tummy and I have digestive problems so I couldn't be bothered soaking and i'm trying to lower my body fat percentage as well. It's great that you're getting some exercise and training! I used to be fit and exercise 3 hours a day but I've found it hard to get back into due to loads of other issues. I do have more energy though I used to feel really lethargic no matter how much sleep I got. I've found grains even rice make me feel really bad. I had a bit of home baked bread yesterday and bam! within an hour I felt horrible. But baked pumpkin makes me feel good so I've been turning to the pumpkin when I'm out of fruit.. and great tip I've been trying my best to do that for the past 5 months but it only started making me feel better when I physically started feeling better too, which was only really a week ago.
Have fun! :D
Lucia said… Yea freelea and DR are a great inspiration! I can't actually remember what inspired me i'd been thinking about it for a long time before I found it the right time to tell my mum that it was what I wanted to do. Since I'd been jumping from diet to diet (which a lot of girls do!) I thought she would be concerned but when I brought up the topic of eating raw foods she told me she'd done it once and was telling me about how cleansing it was and how she'd love to do it again but when she's ready and I was so surprised so soon after I told her and she's been supportive but was telling me she was worried I wasn't getting enough B12, calcium and iron the latter 2 I've had deficiencies which have caused problems in the past. Wow that's great! Around the half year mark! :) Has your fitness increased? What sort of benefits have you felt? Do you ever have plain rice, baked veggies or anything like that when you don't feel like fruit? They've been my fall back foods but I hope to eventually get off them too. That would be great, I think holidays just finished but next holidays maybe. Goodluck! :)
Lucia said… No problem :D Good luck with the fruit shopping, Saturdays are the best day for cheap fruit since the central markets are closed on Sunday and Mondays but it is a lot busier. Mariana often have boxes of bananas for really cheap on Saturdays. Thanks, so do you :D How long have you been HCRV for? Are you thinking of possibly coming back to stay in Adelaide anytime soon?
Lucia said… Haha wow it sure is a small world. That's great you're HCRV, it's helped me heal a lot. If you're looking for cheap fruit the central markets are great, my favourite is a store called mariana market on the other side of Grote st. For organics I'd say go Wilson Organics :) There's quite a few Adelaide HCRVs who are always willing to help :)
Rawfruitygoddess said… Hi Brad,we have a great selection of fruits in Adelaide, for organics go to ORganically Grown,St Bernards Rd Magill, then there's Wilsons Organics on MArket Street just off Gouger street opposite the central market, which has a great selection of fruits too, organic and conventional.Bliss Cafe does lovely juices and raw foods on Compton street just up from Market STreet,Wilsons Organics also has a nice cafe too. You'll have a blast :) you just visiting for fun, where do you live?
