What is "Irradiated Fruit"?

Hey all, went to the store and saw some mangoes with labels saying "irradiated fruit" (see attached photos). Mangoes taste mmmmm but "irradiated fruit" sounds like they've gone through an x-ray machine or been Fukishima decontaminated or something!
