I would have chosen another option if I had more knowledge and experience with alternative routes to antibiotics but the point is, Im mid way through a five day course of antibiotics and was wondering what to do to best help myself back to health once its finished. Any ideas? Thank you!See More

Our community would be delighted to know you better. Please tell us more about yourself and what brought you to 30BaD. We suggest you pick a name other than your own if you want to maintain anonymity.: After years and years of feeling ill with complications from an eating disorder and trying literally everything out there- still I found myself a physical and mental disaster. In September 2011, I had my first appointment with a naturopathic DR who put me on a regimen of herbal tinctures to promote healing. Even after three months, I didnt physically show much improvement. Especially with my mood. Things seemed to be going downhill! Ive been vegetarian for years and have been vegan in the past and was constantly searching for a way of eating that wouldnt make me feel horrible day and night. I had been getting such conflicting advice I thought my head would explode. No one seemed to agree with eachother and I didnt agree with any of them either. Ive stumbled across the raw food diet quite a few times actually and even tried it out for a while. But my body seemed to reject everything I was eating! Homemade lara bars, flax seed cracker with guacamole, fruit and nut 'crumbles', kale chips with cashew cheeze sauce. After that I gave up on raw more or less. But a while after my short trial, I started stumbling upon trial by other raw foodist- people who followed the 80/10/10 diet. Nothing made more sense to me! It hasnt been long and to be honest, I do still struggle as kicking an eating disorder is not an easy task- but when I stick to 811, I feel amazing. Even my energy and moods are up and Im sleeping better as well. Like I said, Im not 100% there, but its what Im striving for every day. And finally- finally, I can breathe knowing that I found SOMETHING that works.

Eating Disorder Treatment.

Today is my first full day at Westwind (www.westwind.mb.ca)- also my first meeting with the dietician. This is an amazing program all in all and completely different from 'mainstream' places you here about but this session was awful. I knew coming here Id have to give up 100% raw for a time. But here this lady is trying to help me by telling me that I really need 'complete' proteins like beans and rice at the same time and I need to have them combined…

My parents didn't want me going there because of cost issues, and also because the treatment ''team'' in Winnipeg strongly advised against it, because they claim that it's ''treatment how you want it, and not how you need it''. They were pretty anal about stuff, especially since I was still 17. Ah well, glad to hear you're getting treatment that respects your values :)! My parents let me be vegan because I showed them I can still gain weight (or at the very least maintain) when I was released from hospital.
