*sigh*
"why" is such an exhausting question for those who don't want to take upon the search themselves.
A friend asked me tonight what happened and what pushed me to decide to take on veganism this summer... we hadn't talked in a while and apparently I haven't been catching her up at all. I decided a few months ago that I was going to stop telling people about all the things I was "thinking" about doing, and only tell them what I…

There have been many times that I have almost chosen to stop this chase of a fruitarian lifestyle. Today I just felt so demotivated by the nit-picky things and the habits I've sustained (disregarding the longterm progress I've had), by my body image, by cravings that arose and persisted all day, by how so many other people I know are SO skinny and have tons of energy and clear skin, yet they rarely ever eat fresh foods... rather, they eat practically nothing but fast food and processed stuff…

This writer has come upon quite an epiphany! Adding 4 bananas A WEEK to your diet may be good for you, hahah! I don't want to discourage you guys with this daunting task, but can you bother rework your schedule and squeeze in this little habit?

Diane L said… Thanks for all the info. I think I saw you asking about community living, right? I am too, especially in South and Central America.
Jodi Nimmo said… The fruit scene here is much the same as LR I imagine. Lucky for you, you aren't there...haha. We are doing pretty good but longing for the opening of the farmer's market. Ordering dates by the box, several monthly. I use them on the go in class and stuff, since they are so portable. We go through a lot. Thanks for the tip about Mike. I'll have to look him up. We started a raw group but haven't been terribly active since it's been cold. I know there is another one north of here. They tend to do a lot of oily dehydrated "raw" stuff...which differs from what we eat a lot, but still, nice to be in at least semi-like-minded company for sure. We'll have to get together sometime when you get back. I travel to LR for political stuff at least a few times a year.
Jodi Nimmo said… Hi Jennie! Thanks for the message. I live in Fayetteville at the time. I'll actually be heading to Little Rock this coming Saturday for a Reproductive Justice Rally on the capital steps. I think there is a social after from 2-5 at the Oyster Bar...if you're into that sort of thing. Great place to network. I'd love to meet other LFHCRVs in Arkansas. Do you have many raw friends around here?
Omar Abdou said… Mega late response, haha.
No, I haven't read it, what do you like about it?
In terms of what I like about climbing? Probably just the functional physical strength and balance required to do it. I can't quite put my finger on it, but something about it is so fun!
Omar Abdou said… Hi Jennie!!
Thanks for the message!
I started climbing consistently (like, weekly, at indoor walls) about 5 years ago, when my family moved to the city we're in now. My mum was one of those 80's hardclimbers so I've been an on-and-off climber pretty much my whole life.
During school I had about a year and a half break from climbing and finally took it back up again about 4 months ago. So on full 811, only about 4 months climbing consistently.
And it's been the best! Not that I care too much for quantifying it, but in that time I've progressed my strength (in aussie grades) from about 17-18 to 23-24. Super excited to see how far I can go with it. :D
What about you? How long've you climbed? What do you climb mostly? Why do you love it? :D
Cherry Blossom said… Hey Jennie,
I've been climbing now for about 10 years nows. I actually came to Canada (I'm from Australia) to climb. The mountains here are so amazing. I wish I could make down to the States before I head back home in November. But work is crazy, and I need to save for when I return to school. I know what you mean about travelling, diet and training. These things totally went out the window when I was backpacking through Europe / Uk last year.
After doing Banana Island for a week, I'm hoping to transition to HCRV. Though I struggle with it and would like to leave some room in there for the occassional cooked meal out with family and friends.
Where are you travelling at the moment? Got any plans to come to Canada or Australia? It alaways nice making new climbing friends from around the world! :) What do you climb? Trad? Sport? Boulder?
Cherry Blossom said… Hi Jennie, I've been HCRV on and off for about 8 months. I just finished BI today actually, and I feel amazing! I've been climbing for about 10 years now. What about yourself? How long have you been HCRV? And do you climb too? :)
