Been vegan since May 2010, and 811/HCRV since January 2012. I am a professional jazz pianist and that originally inspired my interest in health - the better my body functions, the better my mind will function, and the better my musical performance will be.
Like many people, I was "exposed" to 30BaD a while ago, and thought it was completely kooky - but the more I learned about physiology and biochemistry and evolution (not the paleo bro-science version of it) - the less I could deny myself proper nutrition.
Some guy on a paleo blog compared his meal to Durianrider's meal - a rib eye and a salad versus a dateorade. He said DR got more calories but he (the blogger) got more "nutrition." I lol'd.

I need large quantities of ripe fruit, preferably for free.

I was wondering if you changed my comment... I want to know what I said exactly about cooked vegan foods so I don't say it again. Banana boy made a comment about the cooked vegan too so I guess I just worded it wrong.

Thank you for letting me know Peter :-) I've been having so much awful detox lately including nausea at its worst :( and rice and potatoes are helpful for me. I watch a lot of you tubes from durianrider and guess I got caught up on how cooked low-fat vegan foods are still an option. I didn't realize I suggested him to do it, I thought I said that's what I did ;P

Okay well have a great day!

I think you might really enjoy a book by Shenzen Young "the science of enlightenment".

It is an audiobook and you can get it at audible.com at a huge discount if you become a member there.

Check it out.

So much agree with you that this diet is another step along the spiritual path...

However they would NEVER allow bringing my own fruit to the center.

It's a very important point that you need to make do with 'what is given', which is usually conventional apples, oranges, bananas and some veggies.

I think the taste qualities and variety of fruit is not that important during deep meditation. I actually could do the whole 10 days on conventional bananas just fine, and be grateful for the opportunity.

Anyway, I think I might have to cancel this time, because I am going to do a extended water fast instead for health reasons.

if you go - do share your experience!

Hi Peter,

I don't remember the name of the assistant teacher, but they are different for each 10 days course. I think the attitude towards raw vegan fruit based diet is improving over there. My friend sat 20 days course last summer there and was able to do it on fruit all the way through.

Also, I signed up for another 10 days course this March and described my diet in the application, and they called me to confirm that they understood my diet correctly and said that on the registration day I will need to talk to registration people to remind about my 'special needs' and they will provide a 'fruit box' for me so that I was sure to have fruit any time I want.

So, just describe your diet in application, make it sound simple and necessary for your well being, and chances are you won't have any issues!

The more of us going there to meditate and stating our diet - the easier it will become!
