Hi I suffer undiagnosis celiaqui for great part of my life. I was constantly suffering from strong anemia (I used to have less than the half of the normal erythrocyte count...) I was hospitalized sometimes, received blood transfusion and live on high dosis of iron. The only thing that keept me going was high sugar high fat food and as soon as I was not eating I was exhausted, therefore I was overweight inspite of having the gout disease. I arrive to a point in which my gouts were really sick and I started loosing weight rapidly at that time my celiaqui was discover. The gluten free diet made me feel better but my bad eating habits made me gain lots of weight. Anyway bad food lead my to an strong depression and I was not even taking care of my disease and my gouts were so inflamating that I could not even sit for a long time (because of the pressure on the gouts). Recently I found the videos of Frelee and D. Graham in internet and bought the 80/10/10 book and everything make sense to me. I started with this diet last week and not only the inflamation of my gouts start to improved I am not longer depressed and it is really easy for me to be sure I am not eating any source of gluten =). I also loose some weight, which is also nice. I am in a not nice environment (I mean the people are nice but anything that is not conventional is destroyed), I received a lot of hostile commentaries at the time I started to loose weight because of the celiaqui, I was even yelled out loud by one of my collegues in the corridor that I have an eating disorder and that I should start eating normally. Therefore I decided to go through this way without telling the people around me but it will be nice to be part of your community to know that there are other people there that know that this is great.

Hello Paula and welcome to "30 Bananas A Day"!

You now have over 10,000 people in your life who know that you don't have an eating disorder :)  It sounds like you are doing great so far.  Having a lot of people in your life who don't understand and are critical of this diet certainly isn't helpful, so please use our forum any time that you have questions or could use some support.

Jared
