Lukas Ircha said… Sunwukung, it is true that tropical climates are hot and humid especially to people who are not use to them who have not acclimatized or to people consuming difficult to digest foods which produce a lot of body heat. Looking for the ideal temperature 27 - 29 deg C and having this constantly is impossible no climate is like that. But tropical climates are close to this, little higher in the daytime and little lower in the nighttime. I have been to Yucatan region and spent there almost a month and loved it, sure it was in the winter time so summer would be hotter. 500 to 800 meters elevation I found it to be ideal temperature when in tropics. That is why I rented 2 houses in Costa Rica in 2010 which were at this elevation. Any higher than that and you are in the cloud forest during rainy season or it is cold in the evenings. I know what you are talking about I was at high elevations and in the morning I drank a few coconuts that felt like they came out of the fridge. What we should share with readers is that there are nice things about even the hot sea level climate, in the evenings at sunset you can be out topless and still not feel a chill, I love that even though sure during day time you are gently sweating. That is why you have a car when ever you travel so you are mobile and can go anywhere.

i'm not sure the 100th monkey idea makes that much sense to me. i don't see why a particular number needs to be reached. if there really is a collective consciousness, then one monkey's effort can go into it and others, who are willing/diligent/aware/inspired can tap it out. i think this may be the idea of satori.
"who am i?" is indeed an interesting issue and self-referential situations are particularly so. douglas hofstader did considerable writings in this area. possibly zen provides a clue though through the following koan.
student: master why can i not see tao?
master: so long as there is an i, there is no seeing tao.
student: master can you see tao?
master: so long as there is you and i, tao cannot be seen.
student: then if you and i disappear, can tao be seen?
master: if you and i disappear, who is there to see tao?
