I've come a long way from wearing pants with a 42 inch waist down to a size 34. But even size 34 is too big. Replacing diet coke with water as my main beverage, getting more active and doing bikram yoga have all made a tremendous difference. Although I've been doing bikram for about three and a half years, I feel that what I eat is even more important than exercise. Not to discount exercise, but it's the lesser component of balanced fitness.I've experimented with various styles of eating,…See More

Day Three Learning Curve

Big time trouble. I've been eating a wide array of fruits non-stop to the point where my digestive system has sent an ALL CAPS memo for immediate attention.Going into a water fast until my digestive system calms down. Lesson one appears to be eat meals, let them digest, be careful about the foods combined. I'd like to avoid another digestive system memo like this one.See More

I have a consistent yoga practice, Bikram. I stumbled across durienrider's video and laughed my ass off as he described the pollution with everyone farting in class. Choose not to believe me if you will, but I've never farted in class! I swear. Anyway, I love the Bikram sequence and Bikram's koolaid, but much as I love him, riding my bicycle and sweating for 90 minutes I still think he's full of s***. Aren't we all?

Lately I've been doing paleo. Look at me... I'm even dumber than I look? I went to paleo AFTER reading China Study and seeing the movie Forks Over Knives. Time to swallow a humility pill. As much as I like yoga and riding a bicycle, and swinging a kettlebell, in my heart I feel that exercise is simply a complement to a balanced diet. But what is a balanced diet? I've been looking for something that allows me to eat the way I want to eat. And how is that? I want to eat when I'm hungry, I want to eat until I'm satisfied, I want to feel good about what I eat, and I want to feel good after I eat. I am so ready for 30bad. I just ate two bananas, I have a fresh pineapple that I plan to eat as soon as I finish my application, then it's off to stock up on dates, figs, bananas... just prior to this I was browsing spiral slicers for zucchini. You gotta let me in! I'm a believer!
