Awesome awesome awesome race Kathleen. Seriously, You had about as perfect a day as it gets in these ultras. The lack of sleep and your performance is pretty amazing. Also, the super cold morning swim is a prime place to have severe muscle cramping…

Most people will ask 'why does exercise intensity have anything to do with needing more or less salt'? Well there is a reason why intensity plays a huge roll. I'm going to do a video on all of this shortly, so stick around and I'll give you my humbl…

There is no question in my mind that I could run huge distances without salt supplementation. In fact I have, and I do very regularly. BUT I can only do this when I am going SLOW! As soon as I turn up the pace and intensity it's an entirely differe…

I am a Fruitarian, and I blog all about it at my site: http://www.TheFruitarian.com.
I'm also very proud of the incredible hard work I put into my athletic endeavors, mainly my running. I'm a Fruitarian and 2:28 marathoner! I measure my wealth by the level of my health! I'm 33 years old, started out with vegetarianism at 16, then moved to vegan about age 25, then off again, on again high fat raw here and there.. then at 31 went 801010 low fat raw, and now 2 1/2 years eating 100% 955, I call my diet Fruitarianism! It's Expensive living in NYC and eating this way, but I love the action of big city living and eating a diet that was created in the jungles of evolution! Food is simple and delicious, just as it was meant to be! Moving forward I want to focus more on mono eating, when I combine foods too much I feel the difference in digestion, mono eating is awesome! I still have a lot to learn, that's why I'm here on 30Bad - checking out other people's experiences and trying to learn from them. Another major dream I have is to move somewhere tropical (1st choice is the Big Island of Hawaii or some place insane exotic and untouched, like the jungles of Sri Lanka). 100% Nature - That is where it's at! I don't like buying my organic produce from every part of the world in boxes. There is so much waste and destruction when I get my grapes from Chile, my tomatoes from Mexico, my red peppers from Israel, my lechee's from Thailand, and my oranges from California...all in the same trip to the market! This is not earth friendly in the slightest! I need to move to a pure natural place where food is plentiful and local! :) Freshly picked food from your back yard tastes 10x's better than organic that's been on a plane or a train for a week!

Another Marathon Win For My Diet! NJ Marathon 2010

The NJ Marathon has 3 races combined in one. A marathon, 1/2 marathon and marathon rely.

Total there are over 10,000. runners! This is a big crowd!

The scene at the start is massive, it's like a major city marathon with a sea of people.

With so many runners it's very exciting to do well.

Yet since they don't offer prize money no super elite professional runners usually do it.

It's still competitive and usually the winner has to run close to 2:30 to win.… Continue

50km race - 1st place on a banana

I really honestly don't like to brag, and I mean it when I say I am posting this for the purposes of disproving the naysayers about my fruitarian diet...but when you win a marathon, ultra marathon or middle distance race just about every weekend for months on end, people got to know about it ... especially when I eat nothing but fruit!

I ran the boston marathon on monday in 2:28, then ran 13 miles on tuesday, then 16 on wed, then 25 on mt. trails on thur, then friday took it easy only ran 3… Continue

I ran 100km (62.2miles) FAST! - Just on ORANGES!

Yup, I ran 100km in 7 hours and 27 minutes - ONLY eating oranges/OJ juice.

That is an average per mile pace of 7:12.

Do you want to know what it feels like to run 60 miles, and then run
the last 2.2 miles at a pace of 6:30 per mile? How is that possible to
run for 7 1/2 hours with zero rest and still be able to run fast... the
answer: Fruitarianism

I just ran the USA Ultra running 100km Natio

Hola.

I want to know your opinion:

Have you experience similar detoxification processes like a short fast through intense physical exercise?.
I am convinced that physical exercise produced a revolution in our tissues and lymphatic system, which can cause abrupt elimination of toxins.

To me it has happened some times 1 or 2 days after intense sports practice... I have had to stay in bed 1 full day with a cold (sore throat the day before).

I know that Natural Hygiene does not agree with my point of view. I even remember the comment from Loren Lockman.

What can you say?

Have a sunny and sporty day!.

Hey Michael,
I Love your passion...thank you so much for sharing! I have a question for you. I just watched your YouTube video fruitarian produce shopping. I myself just switched over from a high fat raw Vegan diet to a low fat one & I was wondering do you eat only organic? I adore watermelon & durian & all exotic fruits, but some organic fruits can be hard to find. I don't know if the chemicals on the food would do more harm than good on a high fruit diet? Anyway...thanks again for being your authentic self!
Oh..I live in Florida & was born & raised in Astoria Queens N.Y. Wow! there you are in Brooklyn buying the most amazing fruit! I do have a brother who lives in brooklyn perhaps it is time to go back to Brooklyn? Not!!...I want to go to Sri Lanka!
Just beam me up, Scotty! =)

So ning isn't letting me add more profile questions~ I've written to them and posted on the NC forum and they've said "this is something we are looking into" I've told them that a fellow NC has done so already and there was no response, I have asked several times...strange but they are flat out at the moment so maybe that's it.

hey mike! i just ran the Burning River 100 miler, my first ultra in my 7 weeks of fruitarianism, and it was absolutely amazing... i didn't have a crew so i just had a few bananas at each aid station and carried dates with me along with my H2O and Scaps. My energy levels throughout the race were fantastic. The first 9.4 miles were on road and i went out way too fast and ended up lighting up my left hip a little bit and couldn't shake that for a while... went through some tough miles up until about 67 when i finally got my legs back under me and started to literally do some of the best running of my life. Bombing downhills at night with confidence and running uphills i would normally never touch in a 100... people at the aid stations were pretty amazed that someone could look that good so long into the race and were shocked when i gave the credit to all the fruit i'd been eating all day. I only finished in 23:22 but now know i can take tons of time off that, especially since its been a crazy summer for me and i didn't really get any propper training in. Your the reason i found 80-10-10 when i googled "vegan ultrarunner" 8 weeks ago, and it's already proven itself to me as 100% the absolute best lifestyle out there. After Burning River, I was walking around fine the next day while my other friends are in zombie runner crippled mode... 8-1-1/ 9-5-5 is like cheating! Thanks for all the inspiration and keep kicking ass...
until we meet on trail,
Nick
