Profile Information

I spend most of my time....
I am a fruitarian + 2:31 marathoner! I measure my wealth by the level of my health. I'm 32 years old, started out with vegetarianism at 16, then moved to vegan about age 25, then off again, on again high fat raw here and there.. then at 31 went 801010 low fat raw, and now over 1 1/2 years eating 100% 811! Rockin! Expensive living in NYC and eating this way, but I love it. Food is simple and delicious, just as it was meant to be! Moving forward I want to focus more on mono eating, when I combine foods too much I feel the difference, mono eating is awesome! Still I have a lot to learn, I hope I always remember I have more to learn, that's why I'm here. Another major major dream I have is to move somewhere tropical (1st choice is the Big Island of Hawaii) and grow ALL my own food. That is where it's at! I don't like buying my organic produce from every part of the world, so much waste and destruction when I get my grapes from Chile, my tomatoes from Mexico, my red peppers from Israel, my lechee's from Thailand, and my oranges from California...all in the same trip to the market! This is not earth friendly 811 in the slightest! I need to move to Hawaii! :) (Freshly picked food from your back yard tastes 10x's better than organic that's been on a plane or a train for a week).

Order your produce in bulk/by the case! here's why! - and of course organic

I buy everything in bulk for the following reasons:
1. If buy in bulk, you automatically eat so so many more mono meals, which is really what advanced 811 is all about - and THE goal as far as I'm concerned.
2. You save money
3. You don't have to go to the supermarket and be tempted with all kinds of stuff that you just shouldn't have to look at anymore...
4. Buying organic is where it's at! support the industry!
5. this delivery service literally drops the stuff at your door, so you save so muc… Continue

You can do it! Go 811

i just watched all of your videos and i would like to ask you a question on emotions.Everytime i eat fruits, in fact i eat 90 percent fruits, the other 10 percent are greens...so everytime i eat fruits, i don't know if you have the same feeling but i have issues managing my emotions.I don't know what happens...it's like a bomb exploding. You know, before when i ate cooked meals it never happened to me, it was like i was still asleep. Now it's different, i have trouble wi… Continue

You too! It was my pleasure.
We should have another NYC party. Maybe one 811 potluck-party to start off every season. It would build an 811 NYC community in no time.
Thanks for the chat about fasting. I loved sitting with you & your wife & hearing about what you both have experienced in your health journey over the years. It was wonderful.
See you soon..

Michael, I have always admired your commitment to eating a strict low fat raw vegan diet. But now I admire your personality even more. Your spirit and kindness was what stood out to me. I don't know what I was expecting, but you are really easy to talk to and down to earth.

Hey Michael,
What are your thoughts on running a marathon before the marathon. The marathon is Dec 6th and I plan on running 26 miles on Nov 30th. (this is me answering my own question) I don't think it's a problem, but will it really help or will it really hurt... Although my ultimate goal is the AR50. With the CIM I am not going to break any records, it's my first one, I just want to finish gracefully.

Hey Michael,
Congrats on your win and amazing NYC time! Good luck with the store...I'm a produce manager at an organic store in NZ and love what the job brings to my life (yummy, juicy fruit all around :) My hope is to get to Hawaii, too! Maybe see you around the big island someday! Oh, and awesome night-pee contraption! Brilliant! but what does your wife use??

Thanks, I was running almost everyday up until a monthor so ago, work has gotten in the way this month. Yes the AR 50 is my goal and usually do what I set in front of me. Side note if you do it I have a pretty big house with a nice guest bedroom if you would like, I know that's a bit off to offer but I think it's the right thing to at least throw it out there. Thank you for your input it does help.

First I must say I wanna be like "Mike" wow great job man, I wanna get faster so running 15 - 20 miles doesn't take so darn long but anyway to my question. I have been running since Jan 2009 and doing this 8/1/1 thing (trying to be 100% but not yet) I am running in the California International Marathon Dec 6th and training is going fine running 2 to 4 times off and on a week for 1.5 to 2 hours per run and every other week hitting 2.5 to 3 hrs... but I did a 22 mile run last Monday and here is what happened. 1st the day before the run I don't think I ate enough calories may or may not have anything to do with the real question... So at about 3 hrs into the run (it had some fair hills also) I just lost all energy, I mean the normal things hurt, bottoms of feet, hips a little, but all that was bearable, I just lost all energy and had to resort to walk a few steps and then run a bit and so on. I did run out of water and "food" at 3hrs and 10 mins. Drank 10oz of chia seed water mix and drank 18oz of water all the way up to that point, so I was thirsty. Also breakfast was chia seeds, and bananas blended in water about 16 oz. or so. So is the energy thing food or just the normal hey I hit the wall and suck it up. I don't just want to "finish" the marathon cuz I would like to do a 50 miler April 11th and I want to finish with out being half dead like I hear so many say. Suggestions please. I know I can finish but I want a little edge.

Thanks Thad

Yes, I agree Chad. I like a little bit of onion every now and again on my salads. Garlic on the other hand I use to like when I ate cooked. Can't handle raw garlic, so don't eat it now.

I generally finish my last meal between 8.00 to 8.30pm. I'm in bed by 9.30pm at the latest and then up at 3.00am. I have no problem with digestion on a LFRV diet, doing it this way, however when I was on the SAD I ha serious problems.
