"I just went to a cooked vegan diet in college. No point in staying raw/high raw. If there were ripe bananas out, I would mono meal them, but otherwise I would just eat oatmeal, rice, potatoes, pasta very night with some veggies"

Resolutions for 2017

2017 is going to be full of change! Trump is president, I'm graduating HS and moving to another state for college, and I will be running my second marathon in May. As for my resolutions, I'm still choosing them, but my first one is definitely staying on RT4 for as long as possible. I say "for as long as possible" because I don't think I'll be able to eat as much fresh fruit and veggies when I go to college with the meal-plan I chose and the options available for vegans. So, does anybody have…See More

I went pesceterian in the fall of 2014 because I didn't really like the taste of meat, also my sister was a pesceterian and I thought it was interesting. By the spring of 2015 I was a vegetarian, almost vegan except for eggs. By April of 2015, I was a committed vegan and started researching the lifestyle to get a better understanding. The reason I made the transition was a mix of health and ethical reasons, and I watched several documentaries after making the switch (around July 2015). I found RT4 right after going vegan and was able to maintain the lifestyle for several months, but colder weather and lack of willing parental support pushed me to drop RT4 (I remained vegan, of course) and go more Starch Solution. Unfortunately, I had missed my period for half the year, my skin was dry, and my running was being impacted by inadequate nutrient intake, so I had to reduce exercise and eat higher fat and more calories. Thus, by Spring 2016 I had gained almost 20 pounds and was mildly depressed. I was training for the marathon at the time, so I transitioned back into RT4 and by July/August I was down 10 pounds. I lost my period again (it had come back during the Spring), but instead of ditching RT4, I increased my caloric intake and cut back on the intensity of my runs (not the distance). I maintained my weight and got my period back within three months. However, two months later I lost it once again (January 2017). Currently, I am RT4 still, training for a marathon whilst injured (resting, heat pads, stretching, short runs when feeling good, one long training run twice a month), but I have increased my fat intake (around 10%) which means I eat 1/4 cup to 1 cup of pumpkin seeds a day depending on my mood. Or several walnut halves and a cup of cashew milk. It's doing wonders for my skin. I am also at my goal weight (a goal I have had for 4 years).

*My reason for upping my fat intake to 10% is because I've realized that the heart is fat and muscle, and without enough fat in the diet the body will break down muscle, so it could break down your heart. That's scary, and as an aspiring ultra runner, I need to eat more fat so that my body doesn't break down my heart. I need my heart...
Oh, and my stupid freaking period hates me and I need it to come back.

I do not eat salt or sugar(unless it's in my darn nut milk), oil, animal products (duh), and I avoid all processed foods except molassases. Sometimes I might have no food around and have to eat bread or cereal, but that is In desperate times (maybe 5 times a year). oh, and i don't eat potatoes or white rice. Personal preference...
