What to do with banana peels.

If you're eating 30 bananas a day, you know what a rash of banana trash you're leaving behind... so I was searching for a way not to waste the peels. I intend to garden, but am not, yet, so it's not…Continue

"I would at least try it out, if I were you- menstrual cups, regardless of brand, are clean, reusable, and a one-time investment. I find I don't cramp as much, or as badly, and while I can't feel it when it's in, I can tell when it…"

"I've been using a Diva Cup since March of this year... and I LOVE it. It doesn't have that awful drying feeling that tampons can have, but it is still inserting something into your vagina, so I'm not sure if the uncomfortable…"

My weightloss come better nutrition journey started in August 2010, with the baptism of my nephew. My mother and her long-term girlfriend had just succeeded in losing weight through a change in diet and added exercise to melt from size 10 and 14 respectively, to about a 4 and 6. Comparatively, I had gotten HUGE, I've always been a big girl, 5'7" and normally just about 203lbs... but that summer the bikini I could get away with wearing looked awful and it was my wake up call when my mother begged to buy me a new one-piece. I weighed 232lbs. Since then, with walking and using ankle weights, I lost 12lbs by September of 2010... and have been floating around 220 for the past two years. I tried diet pills, I tried CLA, and it didn't work.

Since September or December of 2011, I had gotten into researching different life style changes (tiny house living, guerilla gardening, to name a few) and was enchanted by food dehydration as a way to store food long term without freezing or canning, and found out about the Raw Food lifestyle from a few delicious recipes one can do with their dehydrator. Links from there on Youtube lead me to one of Freelea's channels in March- and I actually decided to pick up bananas and oranges at work. And have been keeping bananas in the house ever since. I last weighed in last week (April 12th, 2012) and I had went from 224-ish, to about 214. Will it get lower? I hope so- but the IMPORTANT thing was, getting carbed up made the difference from just using the treadmill at 3mph, no incline, to 3.5mph... then with a 5 incline... to finally, this last Tuesday, (April 17th, 2012) jogging at 4mph, for short sets of 3-5 minutes. I've never been able to jog comfortably before. Last night, I fast walked around my neighbored, and actually *ran* as fast as I could, not for very long, maybe a minute at a piece- but still, I RAN. And the only thing that I've changed has been ADDING water and bananas and oranges (with the occassional loquat, avocado and pear) to my diet, instead of not eating until dinner time and snacking on chips. Dinner remains whatever-it-is-that-Mom-makes... but the rest I'm taking control of... and we'll see where this goes. I'd just be happy at my high school weight of 170... but dream of having a healthy bmi. A bikini body would be nice- but I want to be able to run.

Bathroom, not very TMI.

Posted on May 2, 2012 at 6:34am 1 Comment

I still cannot get over how much easier, faster, and altogether more pleasant going to the bathroom is on this diet.

Especially, since just before starting this diet, I was living with some generally constant constipation; either going only one every two days or so, or lacking any real... well, bulk, to the point that I wasn't going as much as I probably should have been, compared to how much mass I was eating.

Now, about a month after starting the bananas, my…

Actual Jogging. Beginner's Luck.

Posted on April 23, 2012 at 12:10pm 1 Comment

It's incredible what having enough carbohydrates actually does. I can't tell you how many years I couldn't even jog. Just couldn't.

Today, I burned 150cal by doing twenty minutes of intervals on the treadmill at work- 3mph, then 4, then 3, then 5 and so forth...I know to the pros that two minutes of 5mph doesn't sound like a lot- but for me, to not be out of breath within thirty seconds, and to be able to hold on for the full two minutes was just…

Body Perception Issues

Posted on April 22, 2012 at 8:44am 4 Comments

I've always been a big girl, even when I was small. I hit my growth spurt in sixth grade, but even before that, I was the tallest girl in my class, with the thickest legs. I wasn't the fattest kid in middle school, but I was one of the largest. I remember being eleven and noticing in an Archie comic that Veronica weighed the same I did- 110lbs. It freaked me out.

My high school weight was about 170... and this is after a severe bout with respiratory issues in the winter of my…
